Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing vinyl oxime-ethers of general formula (I) by reacting an oxime with an alkine, where R and R are the same or different and represent alkyl or aryl rests, R is hydrogen, an alkyl or aryl rest, and R is a rest which is the same as R and can be different from R or represents a hydroxy alkyl rest. According to the invention the reaction is carried out in a superbasic, polar organic solvent in the presence of a strong base, under conditions which are such that the resulting vinyl oxime-ether remains in contact with the other constituents of the reaction mixture for such a short time that it cannot to a significant extent convert into secondary products or decompose.

Abstract: Dyes of the formula Q - X = Het where X is nitrogen or CH, Q is a 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic radical and Het is a radical of the formula where Y is oxygen, sulfur, imino, C 1 -C 4 -alkylimino, substituted or unsubstituted phenylimino or the radical of an acidic-CH compound, A is nitrogen or a radical of the formula C - U (where U is hydrogen, optionally substituted C 1 -C 13 -alkyl (with or without interruption by 1 to 3 oxygen atoms in ether function), halogen, cyano or C 1 -C 13 -alkoxycarbonyl), and E is oxygen, sulfur, selenium, imino, C 1 -C 4 -alkylimino or substituted or unsubstituted phenylimino, are useful for thermal transfer by diffusion or sublimation onto a polymer coated paper and for dyeing or printing synthetic materials. Specific dyes, where Q is selected from formulae IIa to III as defined in claim 1, are claimed per se.
