Abstract: An infusion pump which is operable to pump a fluid through a tube is described. The pump comprises a shuttle having upstream and downstream sides which is operable to cyclically deform and reform the tube, a first valve associated with the upstream side of the shuttle, a second valve associated with the downstream side of the shuttle and a cam having a first face which is operable to actuate the shuttle and a second face which is operable to actuate the first and second valves.

Abstract: An infusion pump has an upstream platen 800 and a downstream platen 500 with a chassis (14, fig 3) between the platens. Each platen 500,800 has a rear barrier wall 580,801 which is fastened to the chassis, the walls and chassis cooperating to provide a fluid barrier. The platens 500,800, and a shuttle (200, fig 2) associated with the chassis define a tubeway. The fluid barrier seals electronic components or assemblies against the ingress of fluid which may be resident in the tubeway.

Abstract: A drive for an automatic tube loading assembly, comprises cams 614,624 mounted on camshaft 510 which actuate a means for loading a tube into an infusion pump. A motor (550 fig 20) drives camshaft 510 through a reduction gearbox (534 fig 20) and helical gears 564,(562 fig 20) when gear 564 is locked to camshaft 510 by pin 588. To allow manual tube loading, clutch tab 602 is tilted on handwheel 600 causing actuator pin 594 to slide into camshaft 510 against spring 596, moving pin 588 out of engagement with a slot in gear 564, thus allowing free rotation of camshaft 510 without rotation of gear 564.
