Abstract: 5-acylamino-1-phenylpyrazole herbicides of the formula in which R represents cyano, alkoxycarbonyl, alkenyloxycarbonyl, alkinyloxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, alkenylaminocarbonyl or alkinylaminocarbonyl, R1 represents alkyl, alkenyl, alkinyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkylthioalkyl, halogenoalkyl, cycloalkyl or optionally substituted aryl, and, in the case in which Y represents the group, also represents hydrogen, X represents oxygen or sulphur, Y represents oxygen, sulphur or the group, wherein Z represents hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, alkenyl, alkinyl or optionally substituted aryl, R2 represents hydrogen or the radical and R3, R4, R5, R6 and R7, which are identical or different, represent hydrogen, halogen, cyano, nitro, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylsulphonyl, alkoxycarbonyl or a radical -(X')n-R8, wherein X' represents oxygen, sulphur, sulphinyl or sulphonyl, n represents 0 or 1 and R8 represents halogenoalkyl, with the proviso that at least one of the radicals R3, R4, R5, R6 or R7 represents a radical -(X')n-R8, but R does not represent cyano when R5 represents trifluoromethyl.
