Abstract: PURPOSE:To perform high quality thermal transfer recording continuously with excellent transfer efficiency, by holding heat sensitive solid state ink in holes provided in an ink carriers, heating the carrier, and transferring the ink to a medium to which transfer is made. CONSTITUTION:As an ink carrier for a thermal transfer recording medium, a substrate 1, wherein many blank holes 2 (cylinder shaped through holes whose cross sectional diameter is about 100mu or less is desirable) are provided, is used. Heat sensitive solid state ink 6, which is softened or dissolved by heating and keeps the solid state at a normal temperature, is inserted into said blank holes 2. Then the desired parts of the carrier is heated, and the ink at the heated part is transferred to the medium to which transfer is made. Thus the recording is performed. For example, the ink 6 is transferred to the corresponding part of the medium 4 to which transfer is made (e.g., paper, resin film, and the like) by thermal information 5 such as a flash light source, a laser light source, and the like.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable polychromatic display with high reversibility at a high response speed by irradiating light having different wavelengths and/or different quantities of light on a display element contg. betaine dye and a polar medium.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. 3 contg, betaine dye and a polymer having a photoisomerizable structure is adjusted to a prescribed concn. and held between a pair of sheets 2, 2' to form a display element. One of the sheets transmits light. When light having different wavelengths and/or different quantities of light are irradiated on the element, according to the wavelengths and/or the quantities of the incident light, the display surface of the element turns yellow, green, blue, purple and red in the order of decreasing quantity of light, or the display surface assumes said colors in the reverse order. A desired image can be displayed by patternwise irradiating light, and polychromatic display can be carried out by irradiating light having different wavelengths and/or different quantities of light on different regions of the display element at the same time or different times.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To enable repeated polychromatic recording by irradiating light having different wavelengths and/or different quantities of light on a recording element contg. betaine dye and a polar medium to carry out recording, irradiating light on the whole surface of the element to vanish the record, and irradiating light which is different from the light for vanishment in wavelength and/or quantity.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. 3 contg. betaine dye and a polymer having a photoisomerizable structure is adjusted to a prescribed concn. and held between a pair of sheets 2, 2' to form a recording element. One of the sheets transmits light. When light having different wavelengths and/or different quantities of light are irradiated on the element, the element assumes different clear hues according to the wavelengths and/or the quantities of the incident light. When light is irradiated on the whole surface of the element, the recorded information is completely vanished because the whole element assumes uniform color. Abstract: PURPOSE: To make possible the coloration to various hues according to the quantity of the voltage to be impressed by providing a display layer consisting of a betaine dye, anionic polymer and solvent and a pair of electrodes sandwiching the same.
CONSTITUTION: The display element is constituted of the display layer 1 consisting of the betaine dye, anionic polymer and solvent and a pair of the electrodes 2, 3 sandwiching the layer 1. A crosslinked carboxyl group-contg. polymer, for example, polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, etc. are preferable as the anionic polymer. The display of the element changes to various sharp hues according to the quantity of the voltage impressed when the voltage of various quantities is impressed to such element. The excellent multi-color display is thus made possible. Such change in the coloration is regarded to arise from a microscopic volume change generated when the polymer in the aq. gel 1 receives the voltage impressed thereto and the consequent change arising in the polarity of the polymer which exerts a change to the electron spectrum of the betaine dye. The element has excellent responsiveness and is free from a decrease in reversibility after repetition.

CONSTITUTION:The laminated body of the layer A 2 consisting usually of the colorless or pale color colorable compd., the layer B 4 consisting of the auxochromous compd. and the light absorptive layer 3 consisting of the light absorptive material to be interposed between the layers 2 and 4 is supported and laminated via the layer 4 on a substrate 1 in order of the substrate 1, the layer 4, the layer 3 and the layer 2, to form the optical recording element. At least one layer among the layers 2-4 consists of the monomolecular film of the respective constituting materials or the cumulative film thereof and the layers except said layer are formed of a deposited film, etc. IR rays are irradiated on such laminated body to melt or sublimate the layer 3 and to perforate the layer in desired positions, by which the layers 2 and 4 are brought into contact with each other to progress coloration reaction. Information is thus recorded. The S/N ratio is thereby increased and the reliability is improved. Defects such as pinholes are decreased and the high-density recording is made possible.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical recording element capable of performing highly reliable high density recording, by constituting an A-layer comprising a color forming compound from a layer comprising a monomolecular film or the built-up film thereof. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording element comprises a laminate wherein an A-layer 2 comprising a color forming compound and a B-layer 4 comprising an auxochromous compound are laminated and a light absorbing layer 3 is provided on the B-layer 4 and then A-layer 2 comprises a monomolecular membrane while each of the B-layer 4 and the light absorbing layer comprises a built-up film and the light absorbing layer 3 is supported by a substrate 1. Because the A-layer is formed of the monomolecular film having high degree of order and orientation or the built-up film thereof, reactive parts can be mutually isolated through the non-reactive parts in the molecule and the closely adhered constitution of the A-layer and the B-layer is enabled. The light absorbing layer is heated by the irradiation of infrared rays and, by the heat conductance thereof, the color forming compound of the A-layer and the auxochromous compound of the B-layer are contacted under heating to advance color forming reaction and developed color dots are formed at predetermined positions to enable the recording of information.
