    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pattern detecting device which can be made small-sized. SOLUTION: The pattern detecting device 10 is equipped with a prism 12, an optical component 14, a CCD 16, and a diffusion light source 18. The optical component 14 is constituted, by arraying plural light-transmissive bar-type cores almost in parallel and filling the respective gaps of the cores with a light- absorbing material and has a light incidence surface and a light exiting surface crossing the cores at right angles, and only the light made incident on the light incidence surface at right angles is propagated and projected from the light exiting surface. At least a part of the light emitted from the diffusion light source 18 is reflected totally by at the noncontacting part of the surface of an object of measurement within the contact surface 12a of the prism 12 and projected vertically from the light exiting surface of the prism 12 to enter on the light incidence surface of the optical component 14 at right angles.

SOLUTION: This optical component 10 comprises an optical element 11 and an optical element 12 with plural optical fibers 14 disposed parallel to each other and integrally formed. The optical element 11 has one end face 11a and the other end face respectively crossing its optical axis at 68 deg., 46.7 deg.. The optical element 12 has one end face and the other end face 12b respectively crossing its optical axis at 11.7 deg., 90 deg.. The other end face of the optical element 11 abuts on one end face of the optical element 12. Respective lengths of optical paths respectively configured by the plural optical fibers 14 in the optical element 11 and the plural optical fibers 14 in the optical element 12 from one end face 11a of the optical element 11 to the other end face 12b of the optical element 12 are nearly constant regardless of the optical paths.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element of excellent transmission efficiency and hardly being affected by a data omission due to a dead band. SOLUTION: The optical element 10 is constituted by providing an inputting optical member 11 arranging plural optical fibers parallel to each other to be integrally molded and filling up light absorbing material 15 into gaps between respective optical fibers 14 and an outputting optical member 12. The inputting optical member 11 is provided with an incident surface 11a obliquely cut at an angle of nearly 22 deg. for an optical axis and an emission surface obliquely cut at the angle of 49.7 deg., and the incident surface 11a is cut so as to become a parallelogram that a set of the opposite angles are respectively nearly 62 deg. (acute angle), and another set of the opposite angles are respectively nearly 118 deg. (obtuse angle). The outputting optical member 12 is provided with the incident surface obliquely cut at the angle of 14.7 deg. for the optical axis and the emission surface 12b vertically cut.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image device which can be produced with high productivity and also can transmit the images with high resolution. SOLUTION: This image device contains a fiber optical plate as an image transmission means, and the optical plate has plural unit fibers 6 which are gathered with their axial lines set in parallel to each other and also has the input and output end faces consisting of sets of both end faces of the fibers 6 respectively. Each of fibers 6 that form the fiber optical plate includes a core 10 using a material having light transmissibility to the prescribed light and a light absorber 12 which closely surrounds the core 10 and absorbs the prescribed light. The fiber optical plate of such a constitution can be produced in the same way as a known general fiber optical plate with no special additional process required. Thus, the image device can also be produced with high productivity.

SOLUTION: An FOP 1 includes a plurality of unit fibers 4 the respective optical axes of which are approximately parallel to each other, and an input end surface 2 and an output end surface 3 configured by assembling both end surfaces of the unit fibers 4, respectively. The FOP 1 has a conical shape having a height in the optical axis direction; the input end surface 2 configures the side surface of the conical shape; and the output end surface 3 configures the bottom surface of the conical shape. A light made incident from the input end surface 2 is output from the output end surface 3 when a palm or the like of a subject is brought into contact with the input end surface 2. The unit fiber 4 has a core 5 for propagating the light which is made incident from the input end surface 2, a cladding 6 for covering the external periphery of the core 5, and a light absorbing body 7 for absorbing the incident light while covering the external periphery of the cladding 6.
