    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a preventing method of the peculiar defect in a casting in the case of casting by a mold containing phosphorus atom, and a coating agent used to this method. SOLUTION: This preventing method of the defect due to phosphorus in the casting, is executed by applying the coating agent containing 5-30 pts.wt. at least one kind among magnesium oxide, titanium oxide, chronium oxide, manganese oxide, iron oxide, nickel oxide, zinc oxide and zirconium oxide to 100 pts.wt. refractory aggregate on the mold containing >=0.05 wt.% phosphorus atom and casting. In this way, while receiving such merit as to reduce the odor in the case of casting by the mold using the phosphorus containing compound such as phosphoric acid as a hardening agent, the defect in the casting caused by the phosphorus atom can efficiently be prevented.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the working environment by adding carboxylic acid having >=3 carboxylic groups in one molecule to reduce the content of sulfonic acid and reduce the generation of the gas containing sulfur during the molding and casting. SOLUTION: Addition of oxy-carboxylic acid into the composition of the hardening agent is 3-70 wt.%, preferably, 5-40 wt.%. The content of organic sulfonic acid such as toluene sulfonic acid and xylene sulfonic acid in the composition of the hardening agent can be reduced, and no inconvenience caused by reduction in the hardening sped is generated. Oxy-carboxylic acid having >=3 carboxylic groups in one molecule to be added, includes citric acid, iso-citric acid, 1,2,3-tri-carboxy-1,3-di-hydroxy propane, and the use of citric acid is preferable from the viewpoint of the price.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To lessen generation of harmful gases and to prevent degradation of a working environment by specifying weight ratios of the phosphorus atoms and sulfur atoms in a hardener compsn. CONSTITUTION:A binder compsn. and the hardener compsn. are used in order to mold the casting mold. An acid curing resin and the curing accelerator expressed by formula I are incorporated into the binder compsn. A phosphorus atom-contg. compd. and sulfur atom-contg. compd. are incorporated into the hardener compsn. The content of the hardening accelerator in the binder compsn. is specified to 0.5 to 63.0wt.%. The weight ratios of the phosphorus atoms and sulfur atoms expressed by [sulfur atom content/(phosphorus atom content + sulfur atom content)] in the hardener compsn. are specified to 0.01 to 0.7. As a result, accumulation of a large amt. of phosphorus in reconditioned sand is prevented at the time of repetitively using the sand for molding the casting molds.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce a defectless casting by using the reclamation sand intended to be recycled as a refractory granular material in the process for production of the casting sand mold which molds the refractory granular material by using a water-soluble phenolic resin as a binder and org. ester as a hardener. CONSTITUTION:The water-soluble phenolic resin produced by effecting reaction in an acidic region by using a bivalent metal element compd. in a stage for condensing phenols and aldehydes and effecting the reaction with an alkaline metallic catalyst in an alkaline region in the stage before the above-mentioned stage and/or the stage thereafter is used as the binder. The casting sand mold for molding the refractory granular material is produced by using org. ester as a hardener. The reclamation sand or reconditioned sand intended to be recycled is used as the refractory granular material. The casting mold having high strength is obtd. in this way and since the amt. of the binder to be used is decreased, the recovery and regeneration of the molding sand are facilitated. Since the amt. of the gases to be generated can be decreased, the defectless casting can be produced.
