Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a multipurpose plating film having excellent paint adhesion, corrosion resistance, weldability, and press workability without applying a coating surface preparation such as phosphating by incorporating a water-soluble org. polymer having a specified chemical structure into the plating film to be applied on a metallic material. CONSTITUTION:When a steel sheet or a copper sheet is plated with Ni, Sn, Cr, Cu, Fe, etc., a plating soln. obtained by incorporating 0.1-30wt.%, based on the total plating weight, of at least one kind of the following water-soluble org. polymer into a plating soln. contg. 1-600g/l of =1 aromatic ring having >=1 hydroxyl group per 500 units of mol. wt. as a directly bonded substitutent, and contg. 0.1-4 pieces, on average per unit of mol. wt., of sulfonic group, or 0.1-5 pieces on average, of >=1 kind among phosphate group, phosphite group, and other polar groups as the essential components is used as the org. polymer to be used in the plating soln.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a novel organic high polymer composite electroplated film excellent in adhesive properties of coating, corrosion resistance after coating and workability by compositing a water-soluble organic high polymer having a specified chemical structure together with ceramic particles or a water-insoluble organic high polymer into a matrix and plating the surface of a steel sheet therewith. CONSTITUTION:Such an organic high polymer composite electroplated layer that both the organic high polymer described hereunder and one or more kinds of Al2O3, SiO2, TiO2, the other ceramic particles or a water-insoluble organic high polymer such as polyester resin are contained in the electroplated film and a matrix consists of one or more kinds selected from among Ni, Cr, Cu and Fe is formed. The organic high polymer has 1000-1 million weight average molecular weight and also has one or more pieces of aromatic ring having a substituent with at least one or more pieces of hydroxy group per 500 units of mol.wt. directly bonded thereto and furthermore contains average 0.1-4 pieces sulfo group per 500 units of mol.wt. or contains one or more kinds of polar group selected from among phosphate group, phosphite group, sulfonic acid group, sulfonious acid group, phosphine group, phosphinous group, tertiary amino group, quaternary ammonium group and carboxyl group as an essential component.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To develop the title electroplating bath for forming a plating layer having excellent coating adhesion, corrosion resistance, and weldability by adding an additive consisting of a self-water-dispersible org. polymer having a specified chemical structure to an electroplating bath for the alloy of Zn and other metals. CONSTITUTION:An additive contg. >=1 kind of self-water-dispersible org. polymer consisting of a hydroxystyrene-based polymer shown by formula I and having 1,000-5,000,000 weight average mol.wt. or its derivative as the essential component is added by 0.1-200g/l to an electroplating bath for Zn alloy or other metal alloys contg. 1-600g/l of ion of Zn or other metal ion and 1-400g/l of ion of Mn or other alloying metals. Electroplating is conducted by using the obtained plating bath, and an org. polymer combined electroplating layer having excellent coating adhesion, uncoated corrosion resistance, corrosion resistance after coating, weldability, etc., can be formed without requiring surface treatment such as phosphating and chromating.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a composite plated film having superior adhesion to paint and corrosion resistance by adding a water soluble org. polymer having specified groups to a plating bath, carrying out electroplating on a base material and regulating the amt. of the org. polymer deposited to a specified percentage of the total amt. of metals and the org. polymer deposited together. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds of anionic, cationic or amphoteric water soluble org. polymers having 1,000-1,000,000 weight average mol.wt. are added to an alloy plating bath contg. ions of metals such as Ni, Sn, Cr, Cu and Fe. The amt. of the org. polymers added is 2-200g/l. The metals and the org. polymers are deposited together on the surface of a base material by electroplating. This electroplating is controlled so as to regulate the amt. of the org. polymers deposited to 0.1-30wt% of the total amt. Each of the org. polymers has >=1 arom. rings and 1-10 hydroxyl groups per 500mol.wt. unit and also has 0.1-4 sulfonic acid groups or 0.1-5 groups such as phosphoric acid, phosphonic acid, phosphine or carboxyl groups per the unit on the average. The principal chain bonding the arom. rings may be composed of C-C and C=C bonds.

The amine compound is one or more selected from alkanolamines, and the catechol compound is one or more compound selected from nitrocatechol and cyano catechol. A mass ratio between the amine compound and the catechol compound is 0.05 or more and 20 or less (amine compound/catechol compound).
