Abstract: Prodn. of magnetic recording medium comprises: (a) grinding the surfaces of a carrier by grinding in a ductile modulus using a grinding disk, by adjusting the grinding depth to 0.05-20 mu m, so that a surface-processed carrier with grinding braces in the arc pattern; and (b) producing layers forming a recording medium, with a lower layer, a magnetic layer, and a protective layer on the carrier or on a polished carrier obtd. by final polishing the carrier. The magnetic recording medium produced is also claimed.

Abstract: The magnetic recording medium comprises a substrate (A) with magnetic layer(s) (B) and an upper lubricant layer (C) consisting of a perfluoro-polyether of formula (I) with a mean mol.wt. Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition as a processing aid, capable of polishing a surface at a high speed without leaving defects on the surface by incorporating an organic compound having a specific molecular structure. The objective composition preferably contains 0.01 to 30wt.% of the auxiliary.
