Abstract: A trailer angle detection system for a vehicle towing a trailer includes a rearward viewing camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle, and an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. Responsive to processing of captured image data when the vehicle is towing a trailer, the trailer angle detection system determines the presence of the trailer at the rear of the vehicle and attached at the vehicle and determines feature vectors of the detected trailer over multiple frames of captured image data. Responsive to movement of the trailer relative to the vehicle, the trailer angle detection system tracks feature vectors for different positions of the detected trailer. The trailer angle detection system determines an angle of the trailer responsive to detection of tracking of feature vectors the trailer in the field of view of the camera over multiple frames of captured image data.

Abstract: A trailer assist system for a vehicle includes a plurality of sensors disposed at a vehicle, a trailer sensor disposed at a rear portion of a trailer and having a field of sensing at least rearward of the trailer, and a control having a processor operable to process data captured by the sensors. A display screen displays an area rearward of the trailer. Responsive to a user input selecting a target area present in the displayed image, the control, via processing of data captured by the sensors, is operable to determine a path of travel for the vehicle and trailer to follow to maneuver the vehicle and trailer toward a target location represented by the selected displayed target area. The control, responsive to determination of the path of travel, controls at least steering of the vehicle to maneuver the vehicle and trailer along the determined path of travel.

Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle towing a trailer includes a vehicle transceiver disposed at the vehicle and at least one trailer camera disposed at the trailer being towed by the vehicle and having a field of view exterior of the trailer. A trailer transceiver is disposed at a front exterior portion of the trailer and is operable to receive image data captured by the at least one trailer camera and to wirelessly transmit captured image data to the vehicle transceiver disposed at the vehicle when the vehicle is towing the trailer. A video display screen is disposed at the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle when the vehicle is towing the trailer. The video display screen is operable to display video images derived from captured image data received by the vehicle transceiver disposed at the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer hitching assist system includes a rearward-viewing camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing a hitch of the vehicle and a trailer coupler of a trailer that is positioned rearward of the vehicle and not coupled to the hitch of the vehicle. The vehicular trailer hitching assist system, via image processing of image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera, determines height of the trailer coupler relative to the hitch of the vehicle. The vehicular trailer hitching assist system, responsive to the determined height of the trailer coupler relative to the hitch of the vehicle being greater than a threshold amount, generates a signal to adjust the height of the trailer coupler.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer guidance system includes a human machine interface provided in the vehicle and operable by a driver of the vehicle during a backing up maneuver of the vehicle with a trailer hitched thereto. The human machine interface comprises a freely rotatable rotary knob and operates (i) in a backing up trailer left-backup mode when rotated counter-clockwise, (ii) in a backing up trailer straight-backup mode when the rotary knob is pushed or pulled and (iii) in a backing up trailer right-backup mode when rotated clockwise. Responsive to selection by the driver of the left-backup mode or right-backup mode, the system sets a desired trailer angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle to an angle that is commensurate with a driver-selected setting of the rotary knob. The driver can select the straight-backup mode by pushing or pulling the rotary knob.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer guidance system includes an electronic control unit (ECU), a rear backup camera and a trailer camera disposed at a rear portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. A display screen is disposed in the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. With the trailer hitched to the vehicle, the display screen is operable to display video images derived from image data captured by the trailer camera. At least in part via processing at the ECU of image data captured by the trailer camera, an instruction that aids maneuvering the vehicle in reverse with the trailer hitched thereto during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer is generated. During the reversing maneuver of the vehicle and trailer, the display screen displays an alert when angling of the trailer relative to the vehicle approaches a jackknife condition.

Abstract: A vehicular trailering assist system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing at least rearward of the vehicle. The vehicular trailering assist system transforms captured image data into a bird's-eye view of the hitch of the trailer, and accesses a plurality of stored trailer templates, with each respective trailer template being generated during a previous calibration of the system for a respective trailer. The vehicular trailering assist system generates a matching score based on a comparison between a stored trailer template and the transformed bird's-eye view. The vehicular trailering assist system, responsive to determining that the matching score for one of the plurality of stored trailer templates exceeds a threshold matching score, tracks a trailer angle of the trailer using the one plurality of stored trailer templates.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer angle detection system includes a camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle. The system determines, via processing of frames of image data captured by the camera, features of a trailer present rearward of the vehicle and hitched to the vehicle by determining features that have similar position changes between a current frame of image data captured by the camera and a previous frame of image data captured by the camera. Responsive to movement of the trailer relative to the vehicle, and via processing of captured frames of image data, the system tracks determined features over multiple captured frames of image data for different positions of the trailer relative to the vehicle. The system determines angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle based at least in part on tracking of determined features of the trailer over multiple captured frames of image data.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer assist system includes a camera at a vehicle and viewing at least a portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. The control, after completion of the calibration maneuver, determines a current trailer angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle via processing of frames of image data captured by the camera and based on the determined hitch ball location as the vehicle is driven along a road.

A trailer hitched to the vehicle includes a trailer rear camera disposed at a rear portion of the trailer and viewing at least rearward of the trailer. The control displays at a display device in the vehicle a surround view image using an avatar of the vehicle and an avatar of the trailer. The control stitches images derived from image data captured by the vehicle rear backup camera and images derived from the trailer rear camera to provide a transparent trailer view, and the display device displays transparent trailer view video images. Responsive to the vehicle being shifted into a reverse gear, the display device automatically displays rear backup images derived from image data captured by the trailer rear camera.
