    Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a camera disposed at an exterior portion of a body side of the equipped vehicle and viewing sideward and rearward of the equipped vehicle. A video display screen is disposed in an interior cabin of the equipped vehicle and operable to display video images. When no other vehicle is detected in another traffic lane, the video display screen displays video images representative of a first portion of the exterior scene viewed by the camera. Responsive to determination that another vehicle is in the other traffic lane and approaching from rearward of the equipped vehicle, the video display screen displays video images representative of a second portion of the exterior scene that includes the determined other vehicle. Responsive to detection of the other vehicle, the video display screen displays a graphic overlay overlaying the displayed video images representative of the second portion of the exterior scene.

    Abstract: A mirror reflective element sub-assembly suitable for use for an exterior rearview mirror assembly of a vehicle includes a mirror reflective element, a mirror back plate, and a blind zone indication module. The blind zone indication module attaches at the rear side of the mirror reflective element via an aperture of the mirror back plate. The blind zone indication module includes a housing that houses a circuit element and at least one light emitting diode therein. The rear side of the mirror back plate includes structure at the indicator receiving portion that at least partially receives the housing. The circuit element includes electrically conductive terminals that are in electrical connection with circuitry of the circuit element and that are disposed at a connector portion of the housing that is configured to connect to a wire harness of an exterior rearview mirror assembly.

    Abstract: An interior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror mount configured to attach at an interior portion of the vehicle. A mirror head includes a mirror casing and a mirror reflective element. The mirror mount includes a ball element and the mirror head includes a socket element, which pivotally attaches at the ball element forming a ball and socket joint to pivotally mount the mirror head at the mirror mount. The mirror head has a thickness dimension spanning between a front planar surface of said mirror reflective element and a rear surface of a laterally sideward region of the mirror casing, with the thickness dimension being less than 20 mm. A central region of the mirror casing has a thickness dimension greater than 20 mm to accommodate the socket element. The socket element is disposed at an aperture through the central region of the mirror casing.

    Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror head portion and a reflective element accommodated by the mirror head portion. The reflective element includes a glass substrate and a mirror reflector coated at a surface of the glass substrate. The reflective element is configured to provide a field of view of at least about 15 degrees at the side of the vehicle and provides a substantially undistorted reflected image as viewed by the driver of the vehicle. The reflective element may have a width dimension of less than about 15 cm and a height dimension of less than about 9 cm. The mirror substrate is curved or formed via a hydro-bending process utilizing at least one bending element, which may be CNC formed in accordance with a free form pattern of curvatures.

    Abstract: A vehicular rearview mirror control system includes an interior rearview mirror assembly and a rearward-viewing camera disposed at a vehicle. The system, via processing of a first subset of image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera, is operable to detect ambient light rearward of the equipped vehicle. The system, via processing of a second subset of the image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera, is operable to detect light emanating from a headlight of another vehicle following the equipped vehicle. The first subset of the image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera is different than the second subset of the image data captured by the rearward-viewing camera. Responsive to determining that the detected light emanating from the headlight of the other vehicle glares a driver of the equipped vehicle, the ECU controls dimming of the electro-optic mirror reflective element of the interior rearview mirror assembly.

    Abstract: A vehicular exterior rearview mirror assembly includes a base portion configured for attachment at a side of a vehicle, and a mirror head having a mirror reflective element and an electrically-operable mirror actuator. The base portion extends through an aperture in the mirror head. The base portion includes an electrically-operable powerfold actuator operable to move the mirror head between an extended position and a folded position. The mirror head includes a camera that moves together and in tandem with the mirror head. The camera views exterior and at least sideward of the equipped vehicle. A regulated target region exists at the side of the equipped vehicle. The camera views at least the regulated target region at the side of the equipped vehicle throughout a range of adjustment by the mirror actuator of the mirror head relative to the base portion.
