Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) may include receiving a beam training sequence transmitted by a network access device on a plurality of transmit beams, identifying, based at least in part on the received beam training sequence, one or more sets of multiple beams that are compatible with at least one configuration for routing signals between antenna subarrays of the UE and transceiver units (TXRUs) of the UE, and transmitting, to the network access device, an indication of the identified one or more sets of multiple beams. A method for wireless communication at the network device may include transmitting the beam training sequence, receiving the indication, and selecting, based at least in part on the received indication, a set of multiple beams of the one or more sets of multiple beams to use to communicate with the UEs.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE). A wireless communications system may improve UE discovery latency by dynamically selecting and switching beam forming codebooks at the millimeter wave base station and the wireless device. Selecting an optimal beam forming codebook may allow the wireless communication system to improve link margins between the base station without compromising resources. In some examples, a wireless device may determine whether the received signals from the millimeter wave base station satisfy established signal to noise (SNR) thresholds, and select an optimal beam codebook to establish communication. Additionally or alternately, the wireless device may further signal the selected beam codebook to the millimeter wave base station and direct the millimeter wave base station to adjust its codebook based on the selection.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate scheduling over multiple hops in a wireless communication network. Radio resources can be partitioned into sets of sub-frames that can be allocated statically and/or dynamically. Statically allocated radio resources can be reassigned over time based on the loading on each hop and/or throughput imbalance. In addition, dynamic assignment of sub-frames to each hop can be based on traffic or channel conditions. Moreover, the radio resources can be dynamically allocated in a distributed scheme, wherein a base station controls the scheduling of resources, or a centralized scheme, wherein a relay station controls the scheduling of resources. Furthermore the allocation of radio resources can be transparent or explicit. In the transparent case, the access terminal listens directly to the base station, and the relay station does not transmit control information, such as DL or UL assignments. Conversely, when the allocation of resources is explicit the relay station does transmit control information.
