    Abstract: Handling uplink transmissions by UEs in unlicensed carrier components, in the context of 3GPP eLAA, enhanced license assisted access, and in particular, the configuration by the eNodeB of multi-carrier LBT, Listen Before Transmit, is discussed. The eNodeB signals together with the Uplink grant the LBT procedure to be used before transmitting in uplink, either a short, Category 2 LBT procedure, or else a longer, category 4 LBT procedure. The eNodeB signals, for a particular carrier component, the same LBT procedure it has used itself to sense and then securing the carrier. Also, when pauses occur during the uplink transmission on contention-based shared channels involved in eLAA communications, various procedures may be used to restart transmissions on the contention-based shared channels on the uplink when the original channel occupancy was reserved by a serving base station.

    Abstract: The extension of NB-IoT and eMTC communications into the unlicensed spectrum introduces a number of problems associated with channel quality measurement and reporting. A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium are presented that provide a technique for channel quality measurement and reporting that addressed such problems. A UE apparatus measures a CQI measurement for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups and reports a CQI for each of the plurality of groups. A base station may configure the UE for CQI reporting and may receive a CQI for each of a plurality of groups of hopping frequencies, wherein a set of hopping frequencies is grouped into the plurality of groups. The set of hopping frequencies comprise frequencies in an unlicensed spectrum.

The UE determines whether to select, as a reference subframe, a triggering subframe in which the grant is received or a subframe before the reporting subframe.
