Abstract: In a switched vertical deflection circuit, two SCR switches couple horizontal retrace pulses to a capacitor. A modulator couples pulse width modulated gating pulses to the SCR's. The SCR's couple to the capacitor successively smaller portions of the horizontal retrace pulses during a first part of the vertical trace interval and successively larger portions during a second part for developing in a vertical deflection winding a sawtooth vertical deflection current. The modulator couples gating pulses to one of the SCR's during the vertical retrace interval for substantially loading the horizontal deflection circuit during the vertical retrace interval for preventing undesired oscillations within the horizontal deflection circuit.

Abstract: A deflection generator (21) of a television receiver includes a trace switch (27) that during normal mode of operation is switched at a deflection rate to generate scanning current in a deflection winding (LH). The deflection generator includes a retrace capacitance (CR) for forming a retrace resonant circuit with the deflection winding to produce a retrace pulse voltage. A load circuit (at Vb) is coupled to the deflection generator and is energized by the retrace pulse voltage during normal operation. A remote control circuit (30) develops a remote ON-OFF command signal. A standby circuit (Q2) is series coupled with the deflection generator (21) and is responsive to a remote ON-OFF command signal for producing substantially a short circuit through the trace switch (27) upon receipt of the OFF-state of the command signal. The retrace pulse voltage then collapses and places the load circuit in a standby mode of operation.

Abstract: A linearity correction circuit for use with the horizontal deflection circuit of a television receiver comprises an inductor having two inductor portions. A capacitor, coupled to the S-shaping capacitor of the horizontal deflection circuit, is charged through one portion of the inductor during the horizontal trace interval, and discharged through another portion of the inductor during the horizontal retrace interval in order to provide linearity correction. The inductor may be tapped to allow charge/discharge current switching during the trace interval without introducing beam velocity modulation errors so that the linearity correction circuit may be efficiently combined with horizontal driver circuitry.

As shown the D.C. power supply for an audio pre-amplifier 80 and output amplifier 100 is obtained by rectification of horizontal deflection flyback pulses from a T.V. receiver and the arrangement maintains the current drawn therefrom constant. Thermal stability of I 0 is achieved by the diodes 109 and 110. The audio amplifier is protected against a short circuit across the speaker 104 since the maximum current can only reach the value I 0 .
