Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical switching device having an optical element equipped with a V-shaped prism. SOLUTION: A photoresist film 70 is patterned by using a gray mask 80 on a quartz (silicon oxide) substrate 98 used separately from a semiconductor substrate 20 on which an actuator 6 is formed. Further the quartz substrate is subjected to reactive etching to work a V-shaped prism layer 42. Then a silicon oxide supporting layer 41 is formed by plasma CVD to form an optical element layer 40. The actuator layer 6 on the semiconductor substrate 20 is bonded with the optical element layer 40 (prism layer 42). A switching device 55 all made of inorganic materials can be formed in the above processes, and thereby, an optical switching device having higher durability and reliability can be obtained.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass-producible reflective panel having higher light utilizing efficiency according to its use and a method for producing the panel. SOLUTION: Since a liquid crystal panel attached to a cell phone or the like does not require a so wide angle of a visual field, the reflective panel has a reflective surface 21 obtained by disposing plural fine reflective shapes 28 similar to a concave or convex basic shape 26 having different shapes in the vertical and horizontal directions at random without changing the vertical and horizontal directions. The reflective surface 21 turns light from both sides to the seeing direction of a front user and can enhance light utilizing efficiency. Such reflective panels each having the fine complex three-dimensional structure can be mass-produced by forming space distribution data, forming a gray mask on the basis of the data and using photolithography.

Thereby a photo- switching device can be manufactured with an angle having the highest utilization coefficient without causing the prism angle to be restricted to an angle assuring possibility to perform molding by anisotropic etching.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which the ink channels at the opposite ends of a row can have ink ejection characteristics equivalent to the ink drop ejection characteristics at other channels in a row by eliminating abnormal flexure occurring frequently in the diaphragms at the opposite ends of a row of ink channels. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder has an ink jet head comprising nozzles, ink channels communicating with the nozzles, diaphragms 5 formed at a part of the channel, oscillation chambers 9 formed oppositely to the channel side of the diaphragm 5, and electrodes 17 formed oppositely to the diaphragm 5 on the bottom face of the oscillation chamber 9 wherein the diaphragm 5 is deformed electrostatically by applying an electric pulse between the diaphragm 5 and the electrode 17 and an ink drop is ejected from the nozzle. Sets of the nozzles, channels, diaphragms 15, oscillation chambers 9, and electrodes 17 are arranged in rows at a constant interval in the ink jet recorder and dummy sets of nozzles 4a, channels, diaphragms, oscillation chambers, and electrodes, noncontributive to ejection of ink drop, are arranged at the opposite end parts of the row.

SOLUTION: A drive control device 1 of an ink jet head 100 detects the head circumferential temp. by the thermistor 15 attached to a head substrate 8 and searches for the pulse width correction value dPw corresponding to the detected temp. to output the same from the temp. compensating corresponding table stored in an ROM and calculates the pulse width Pw of drive voltage according to a formula Pw=Pws+dPw on the basis of the pulse width correction value dPw and the preset pulse width initial value Pws of drive voltage. By adjusting the pulse width of the drive voltage corresponding to the circumferential temp., the temp. compensation of ink emitting characteristics can be certainly and simply controlled by simple constitution.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discharge ink drops from nozzles by deforming a diaphragm by means of static electricity in a manner not to generate residual electric charges between the diaphragm and an individual electrode. SOLUTION: A diaphragm (common electrode) of an ink-jet head is deformed in a first driving state wherein a voltage of a first polarity is applied between the diaphragm and an individual electrode, thereby to discharge ink drops from nozzles. Moreover, at least every time the ink drops are discharged once in the first driving state, the diaphragm is deformed in a second driving state wherein a voltage of a second polarity opposite to the first polarity is applied between the diaphragm and the individual electrode, thereby to discharge ink drops from the nozzles. According to this method, while the ink drops are discharged with the application of normal and opposite driving voltage pulses, residual electric charges generated between the diaphragm and the electrode can be removed at the same time.
