A plurality of the ink pressure chambers is arranged in a plane and the common ink chamber stacked on the plurality of ink pressure chambers for reducing the length.

Abstract: Una impresora de chorro de tinta que comprende: una cabeza de chorro de tinta que tiene una pluralidad de inyectores o boquillas, estando cada inyector asociado con un actuador generador de presión respectivo, primeros medios de activación para activar selectivamente a los citados actuadores para que apliquen suficiente presión a la tinta de un inyector respectivo para expulsar una gotita de tinta desde ese inyector, un mecanismo de transporte para provocar el movimiento de la citada cabeza de chorro de tinta con relación a un medio de impresión, un controlador, que responde a una orden de impresión, para hacer que el citado mecanismo de transporte mueva la citada cabeza de chorro de tinta a una posición de inicio de impresión con relación al citado medio de impresión y, subsiguientemente, para activar los citados primeros medios de activación para que realice una operación de impresión, segundos medios de activación para activar a los citados actuadores para que apliquen una presión suficiente a la tinta de un inyector respectivo para mover la tinta sin hacer que la tinta sea descargada por ese inyector, terceros medios de activación adaptados para ser activados por el citado controlador para activar a todos los citados actuadores para que apliquen una presión suficiente a la tinta en los respectivos inyectores con el fin de expulsar gotitas de tinta desde los inyectores para limpiar por descarga la cabeza de chorro de tinta, y un primer contador para medir, como un primer tiempo (Tf), el tiempo transcurrido desde la activación más reciente de los citados terceros medios de activación.

Abstract: An inkjet recording apparatus comprises an inkjet head having formed in a p-type or n-type semiconductor substrate (1) at least one nozzle (4), an ink supply passage (6, 7) connected to the nozzle and a diaphragm (5) contiguous to the ink supply passage, and further having electrostatic actuator means for driving the diaphragm such that in response to a diaphragm motion ink droplets are ejected from the nozzle, said electrostatic actuator means comprising a first electrode (17) attached to the substrate, said diaphragm (5) and a second electrode (21) disposed opposite to said diaphragm with a gap (G) therebetween; and drive circuit means (102) for selectively applying a drive voltage between said first and second electrodes (17, 21), wherein the polarity of said drive voltage is selected such that in case of a p-type substrate said first electrode is made positive with respect to the second electrodes, while in case of an n-type substrate said first electrode is made negative with respect to the second electrodes. For ejecting an ink droplet from the nozzle the electrostatic actuator is first charged and then discharged.

Abstract: A printing apparatus comprises an ink jet head (1) including: a nozzle (11), a pressure chamber (5) having, an ink supply path (6), and an electrostatic actuator (10, 51) comprising a diaphragm (51), as a first electrode, forming one wall of said pressure chamber and an opposing wall (91), as a second electrode, disposed externally to said pressure chamber and opposite to said diaphragm. The diaphragm comprises N continuous segments (51a-51c) and N gaps (G1-G3) are formed in a diminishing size between the N segments of said diaphragm and said opposing wall, respectively. Drive means (21) are provided for applying different drive voltages to said electrostatic actuator at different timings, said different drive voltages including: a first drive voltage capable of forcing all of said N segments of said diaphragm to contact said opposing wall, a second drive voltage capable of maintaining contact between at least one of said N segments of said diaphragm and said opposing wall with other segments of said diaphragm being released, a third drive voltage capable of releasing contact between all of said N segments of said diaphragm and said opposing wall, and a group of drive voltages capable of maintaining contact between only selected ones of said N segments of said diaphragm and said opposing wall.
