Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance stability in the oscillation mode of laser light source by suppressing interference between an emitted light and a reflected light. CONSTITUTION:A wavelength plate WP1 having optical path difference of lambda/4+nlambda is disposed between a laser light source LS and an object S so that an optical beam emitted from the laser light source and an optical beam returning back to the laser light source intersect perpendicularly to each other (with phase of lambda/2+2nlambda) thus preventing interference. Furthermore, a wavelength plate WP2 having optical path difference of lambda/4+ (2m+l)lambda/2 is disposed between a light receiving optical system RE and the object S in order to convert a circularly polarized light from the wavelength plate WP1 into a linearly polarized light thus performing characteristic processing of incident light smoothly. (lambda represents the wavelength of laser light, n and m are arbitrary integers of O or above).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To decrease the feedback of unnecessary return light by diverging the laser beam emitted from the end face of an optical waveguide to a substrate and emitting this light as exit light from the end face of the substrate. CONSTITUTION:The exit side end face 12B is formed just before the exit side end face 11B of the substrate 11. The laser beam L 11 emitted from the exit side end face 12B progresses while diverging into the substrate 11 with respect to the exit face and is emitted as the laser beam L 12 from the exit side end face 11B of the substrate 11. The exit laser beam L 12 is condensed via a lens 6 and an object to be measured is irradiated with this light. A part of the laser beam L 11 emitted from the exit side end face 12B of the optical waveguide 12 of this time is reflected at the exit side end face 11B of the substrate 11 and such reflected light L 13 is reflected at the reflection angle equal to the incident angle of the laser beam L 11 and is diffused into the substrate 11. The return light to the optical waveguide 12 is decreased in this way.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To evade deterioration in characteristics by offsetting an unnecessary wave by obtaining return light matching the unnecessary wave positively by a control means. CONSTITUTION:An optical waveguide, specially, an optical waveguide 2 which removes the unnecessary wave for guiding signal light is provided with a branch waveguide 40, which is provided with the control means 44 which controls the phase and amplitude of the waveguide light in the branch waveguide 40 and returns the light to the optical waveguide 2. Then the unnecessary wave in the optical waveguide 2 is canceled with this return light. Thus, the return light matching the unnecessary wave is obtained positively by the control means 44 to offset the unnecessary wave and then this device is applied to, for example, a laser Doppler speed indicator(LVD) to evade the generation of a noise in the speed detection of an object body 6 and the resulting error, noise generation in an optical communication, etc., or noise generation due to the return light of laser light used as a light source, i.e. characteristic deterioration.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a rotary coupler having a very wide signal transmission characteristic by providing microstrip lines opposed to each other and whose one end is terminated by a resistive terminator to an opposed face between a rotor and a stator and transmitting/receiving a high frequency signal between the microstrip lines of the rotor and stator. CONSTITUTION:The length L of opposed microstrips 15, 16, that is, the length of the microstrip 16 of the stator 12 is selected as an odd number times of 1/4 of a signal wavelength lambda of the high frequency signal, e.g., lambda/4. The directional coupler is formed by coupling electromagnetically the microstrip lines 15, 16 at the stator 12 and the rotor 11. A signal transmission characteristic with a specific band width of >=10% is given in the directional coupler formed by the microstrip lines in this way. Thus, in transmitting a high frequency signal whose frequency is nearly 10GHz while being modulated with a reproduced video signal, the very wide signal transmission characteristic with several 100MHz is obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize an oscillation frequency and to obtain a objective frequency at all times, by improving the reproducing characteristics of a circuit section frequency-discriminating the oscillation output of an oscillation circuit section and controlling the oscillation frequency based on discriminated output of frequency discrimination. CONSTITUTION:A frequency discriminating circuit 18 is coupled with an oscillation circuit 15 having a variable reactance element 17 varying the oscillation frequency with a microstrip line 2. The circuits 15 and 18 use in common a dielectric substance resonator 14, a storage and operation circuit 35 corresponds to an input frequency to the circuit 18 and a reference output is calculated according to a detected temperature of a temperature detection element 36. A discriminated output is detected from a load resistor 33 of the circuit 18, and the discriminated output and the reference output from the circuit 35 are compared at a comparator 40, and the reactance element 17 is controlled according to the result of comparison. The oscillation frequency of the oscillation circuit 14 is kept to an objective frequency independently of the temperature characteristic of the circuit 18.

The other-side ends of lines 17 and 19 are bridged by lines 22a and 22b, where 90 deg. hybrid coupler 22 is formed.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize the oscillation frequency of an oscillator by coupling resonators with a strip line nearly at an interval an odd number greater than the wavelength of a target frequency. CONSTITUTION:Two dielectric resonators 13 and 14 are coupled with strip line 15 of length l, where target frequency f0 is 11.66GHz and resonance frequencies f01 and f02 of resonators 13 and 14 are 11.645 and 11.675GHz while coupling coefficients k1 and k2 are both 0.8 and Q1 and Q2 are both 300 with l=45.03mm.. Then, reflection coefficients S11 and S12 are checked by considering distance l between resonators 13 and 14 as a parameter, so that excellent characteristics can be obtained nearly with l=lambda/4(lambda is wavelength of signal of resonance frequency)X an odd number. Consequently, oscillation frequencies of oscillators can be stabilized.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To stabilize the oscillation frequency of the local oscillator in the frequency converter regardless of the temperature variation with a simple constitution in which just the common transmission line is used. CONSTITUTION:Parabola antenna 10 installed on the roof, etc. receives the wave of the SHF band sent from the broadcasting satellite. The received wave is supplied to frequency converter 1, converted into the UHF band signal, led indoors through common transmission line 6, receives signal process 31 via transformer 30 after amplification 29, and also supplied to frequency discriminator 7. The oscillation frequency control signal sent from discrimanator 7 is supplied to the gate of transistor 11 through line 6 and furthermore via filter 24 which blocks the passage of the AC current from AC power source 8. Thus the local oscillation frequency of converter 1 is controlled. In this case, discrimanator 7 is provided indoors to secure a high stability for the characteristics to the temperature variation. Accordingly, the local oscillation frequency can be held in a high accuracy and high stability although converter 1 may be installed outdoors.
