Abstract: PURPOSE:To omit a PLL oscillator for extracting a signal by forming an unevenness pattern at the length of three times or above of one period of the channel clock of the signal recorded at a signal recording area succeeding to the unevenness pattern. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk 1, for example, is an optical magnetic disk and rotated and driven at a constant linear velocity. On the disk 1, an emboss area 3 composed of an unevenness pattern and a signal recording area 4 are provided at an equal pitch alternately. At the area 3, the unevenness pattern due to three types 3T, 6T and 9T of the rectangular wave signals is recorded. The signal corresponding to the area 3 detected by a photodetector 12 is sent to a length detecting circuit 18 to detect the length of the unevenness pattern through a comparator 16 and the detecting output is sent to a sub-code processing circuit. Since the unevenness pattern is formed by the length of three times or above of one period T of the channel clock, 3T, 6T and 9T can be detected without a detecting error and a PLL oscillator for extracting the signal of the area 3 can be omitted.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To reduce the misdetection of tracking error signals by leading out a genuine positioning signal in case the positioning signals exists within a fixed section in the number equal to a prescribed number of waves and producing a sampling pulse according to the initiation of said positioning signal.

Thus it is possible to avoid the misdetection of the tracking control signals delivered from a terminal 26 even in case a false signal emerges at the output side of the circuit 30 owing to an artificial signal contained in a PCM signal.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect surely a synchronizing signal by integrating an output of a rotary head, comparing this integration output with a reference value and obtaining a digital signal of a prescribed level. CONSTITUTION:A signal fed to a switch circuit 19 from amplifiers 18A, 18B is integrated by an equalizer 60, the integrated signal is fed to a comparator 61, where the signal is compared with a reference value and converted into a digital signal. The comparator 61 acts like generating an output signal of a prescribed level to the output side independently of the inputted signal level. A signal SE of a prescribed level is obtained always at the output side of a band pass filter 29 through which an output of the comparator 61 is passed. The signal SE is fed to a waveform shaping circuit 30, compared with the reference value, a signal S22, that is, a synchronizing signal is obtained. Thus, the setting of the reference potential at the waveform shaping circuit 30 is very easy.
