Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable focus lens which is fast in response speed, superior in light-converging characteristic and allows a large aperture of incident beam. SOLUTION: The variable focus lens 1 is composed from a polarized light beam splitter 3, a 1/4 wavelength plate 5, a convex lens 7, a micromirror 9 and a driving mechanism 10. The micromirror 9 is able to be displaced in the axial direction by a piezo element 12 which composes the driving mechanism 10. When a laser beam made to outgo from the convex lens 7 is reflected by the micromirror 9 to be incident on the convex lens 7 again, a specified voltage is impressed on both the surfaces of the piezoelement 12 by a constant-voltage power source and its electrostrictive effect displaces the micromirror 9 and changes the focal length of the variable focus lens 1.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a projective laser image display device which makes high- output image display possible while miniaturizing a projector. CONSTITUTION:Laser light sources 1a, 2a and 3a for emitting laser beams in green are used for light sources 1, 2 and 3 and further, wavelength converters 1b and 3b excited by the laser beams of green so as to generate high-output red laser beams or ultraviolet laser beams are also used for the light sources 1 and 3. Thus, visible laser beams L1 and L2 in red and green are outputted from the light sources 1, 2 and 3, invisible ultraviolet laser beams L3 are outputted respectively, and images of red and green are displayed on a screen 11a coating the screen, which is irradiated with the laser beams L1, L2 and L3 of a screen 11 paired with the projector, with a phosphor excited by ultraviolet rays and emitted in blue and by irradiating the screen 11a with the laser beams L1 and L2. Then, the image in blue is displayed on the screen 11a by exciting the phosphor by irradiating the screen with the laser beam L3.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce production of a speckle by projecting and displaying a diffraction image so as to allow the diffraction image of a luminance signal for plural picture elements to be still on a screen. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal for plural picture elements from a picture signal source 5 is written in an AOM 4 as a diffraction grating for an ultrasonic wave and passes through a cylindrical lens 6 and a lens 7 of the Schlieren optical system and the diffraction image is projected and displayed onto a screen 18. Then a polygon mirror 13 is used to allow the diffraction image to be still on the screen 18. When a TeO2 crystal is employed for the AOM 4, the effective aperture of the crystal is 12mm or over and the diffraction grating having brightness information by 100 picture elements is always formed in the AOM 4 and the image is latched therein while being propagated for 3musec.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To contrive to miniaturize and lighten an apparatus itself and to lower its power consumption by horizontally and vertically deflecting (n)-laser beams having the same wavelength modulated through (n)-kinds of pattern information signal components and by spatially separating the (n)-laser beams to directly draw a pattern information on a plurality of drawing mediums. CONSTITUTION:Because three laser beams l1, l2, and l3 having the same wavelength respectively modulated through three kinds of pattern information signal components are formed into flat shapes by a lens system composed of cylindrical lenses 1, 2, 4-6 and a half-wave plate 3 and the pitch of arrangement of respective laser beams l1, l2, and l3 is made small, one acousto-optical deflecting system 7 can be used as a horizontal deflection means. Also, because the three laser beams l1, l2, and l3 having the same wavelength modulated through respective picture signal components of red, green and blue colors are spatially separated by mirrors 12a, 12b and 12c and a galvanomirror 13, light valves 15R, 15G and 15B can be respectively made to draw pictures relative to red, green and blue colors simultaneously and a cathode-ray tube becomes unnecessary though three are merely provided respectively one horizontal and vertical deflection means.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To widen the region good for recording and to allow high-density recording by determining the conditions for restricting the film thickness of the respective layers of protective dielectric layers, magnetic recording layer and reflecting metal layer not only in the optical and magneto-optical points of view but also in the dynamical thermal response point of view. CONSTITUTION:The 1st protective dielectric layer 11 laminated on a transparent substrate 1 is specified in the product of the refractive index and film thickness thereof to >=0.2 times to =180Angstrom , to =0.1 times of =500Angstrom to =70% reflectivity at the boundary with the 2nd protective dielectric layer 13. The conditions for restricting the film thicknesses of the respective layers are determined in the dynamical thermal response point of view in such a manner, by which the thermal decomposability is enhanced and the high-density recording is enabled. In addition, the fluctuation width of the conditions under which the region good for recording is anticipated are made to the sufficiently permissible wide region.
