    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constitute a laser beam source by means of a semiconductor laser and to expose a master disk or the like with high accuracy by arranging the chromatic aberration correcting optical system correcting the chromatic aberration of an ojective lens to an exposing laser beam. SOLUTION: An exposing laser beam LR emitted from the light source unit 51 having a semiconductor laser is emitted to a dichroic mirror 47 via a chromatic aberration correcting optical system 78 and a beam expander 79 by the optical system 44 of an exposing laser beam. Hereupon, the chromatic aberration correcting optical system 78 is composed of the optical system imparting the chromatic aberration to the exposing laser beam LR so as to negate the chromatic aberration. The optical system imparting the chromatic aberration is composed by arranging spaced-apart by the prescribed distance two set of lenses 78A and 78B wherein the convex lens made of crown glass having a positive refractive index is respectively stuck to the concave lens made of flint glass having a high negative refractive index.

SOLUTION: The device for manufacturing a master disk has an optical means consisting of a condenser lens 2 which converges a laser beam L projected from a light source to irradiate a layer 101 of a photosensitive resist applied on an optical master disk base material 51 attached to a disk rotary driving device of the device for manufacturing a master disk and a solid immersion lens(SIL) 3 which is an objective lens interposed between the optical master disk base material 51 and the condenser lens 2. A conductive film 102 formed on the side of the optical master disk base material 51 does not generate reflected light even when a laser beam is focused on the photosensitive resist layer 101 and brings recorded data capacity of higher density comparing with the case using an optical master disk forming a conductive film having metal reflection.

SOLUTION: When there is a variation in thickness of a substrate 61, a spherical abberation is generated. Then, in the case a two-group lens having a high numerical aperture is used as a lens unit, when the thickness of the substrate 61 is fluctuated remarkably, the quality of a reproduced signal is impaired largely. Since when the thickness of the substrate is thickened too much, the influence due to a skew becomes large, it is desirable to make the thickness of the substrate to be within the range of 0.1mm to 0.3mm and it is made to be =0.8 because the multiple of about 1.8 times is multiplied with respect to the numerical aperture of an incident light.

The magnetic field modulation coil 42 and a radiator 44 are loaded on the periphery of the tip ball lens 43, and since the magnetic field modulation coil 42 is arranged on the position the most suitable for the recording layer of the disk 1 when the laser light is focused, it can apply the magnetic field of sufficient strength by irreducible minimum power.
