Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a fire-retardant composition imparting the fire-retardant property without spoiling a surface quality of a decorative wall material or carpets comprising a fiber, comprising by incorporating NH4Br, ammonium polyphosphate, Al2(OH)3 and an org. halogen compound. CONSTITUTION:A fire-retardant composition comprising at least fire-retardant components consisting of 1-10% of NH4Br, 20-40% of ammonium polyphosphate, 20-60% of Al2(OH)3 and 20-60% of an org. halogen compound. In order to enhance the standing stability of the fire-retardant components and to facilitate the application to a fabric, a resin, a thickening agent, a surfactant, an org. solvent water, etc. are appropriately added to the above fire-retardant components to adjust the viscosity thereof to 1,000-8,000cp.

Abstract: PURPOSE:Polyester fiber is flame retarded by treatment with a specific halogen- containing compound and a surface layer of polyester copolymer is provided on the surface of the treated polyester fiber, whereby excellent fire retardancy is imparted to the polyester without any adverse effect on the inherent properties of fiber, especially light resistance. CONSTITUTION:Thermally melting synthetic fiber, preferably polyethylene terephthalate fiber, is treated with 7-12C cycloalkane bearing 3-6 halogen atoms such as 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexabromocycloheptane, or phenyl glycidyl ether derivative bearing 3-6 halogen atoms on the benzene rings such as a compound given as the formula. Then, the surface of fiber holding the flame retarder is coated with a polyester copolymer obtained from water-soluble polyalkylene glycol, terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid and alkylene glycol.

CONSTITUTION:Anionic groups such as sodium allyl sulfonate and sodium methacryl sulfonate substituted by alkali metals such as sodium and potassium are contained at 1.3X10 -2.0X10 mol/10 gram fiber amount by a method such as graft polymerization in the filter cloth produced by the woven or nonwoven fabrics composed of polyamide-base fibers such as Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6. The filter cloth 1 produced in this way is superior in peelability of filtration residues and permits suppression of clogging owing to filter residues 2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title fibers having improved hygroscopicity, with little damage to the skin, free from yellowing, by introducing acidic groups(A) substituted with an alkali metal into the inner layers, and unsubstituted A into the outermost layers. CONSTITUTION:Acidic groups in a vinyl monomer grafted onto polyamide fibers are substituted by an alkali metal in treatment with an aqueous alkali. The treated fibers are then neutralized with a weakly basic salt of a strong acid to give the desired fibers comprising the outermost (sheath) layers solely, rich in the acidic groups unsubstitued by the alkali metal and the inner (core) layers rich in the acidic groups substituted by the alkali metal.
