    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance the running properties and resistance to scratching of a film and obtain a good image quality in use for a magnetic recording medium by a method wherein a biaxially oriented film in use is obtained by laminating a layer mainly composed of a polyester A on one surface of a layer mainly composed of a polyester B. CONSTITUTION:In a biaxially oriented film obtained by laminating a layer A mainly composed of a polyester A on one surface of a layer B mainly composed of a polyester B, a center line average surface roughness difference DELTARa between both the surfaces of the film is not less than 0.005mum, 5X10 /mm or more projections are formed on the surface having a larger surface roughness Ra, and a projection/particle number ratio, i.e., a ratio of the number of projections to the number of particles contained in the layer A as a surface layer, is 5 or more. The kind of the polyester A is not particularly limited, but the crystallizing parameter DELTA Tcg of the polyester A is preferably 60 deg.C or lower.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film capable of forming surface projections hard to destruct and having relatively low hardness, capable of preventing the cutting of a partner member such as a guide while enhancing the surface abrasion resistance itself to a large extent and ideal for various industrial uses. CONSTITUTION:A polyester film is a biaxially oriented film based on polyester A and characterized by that the number of projections of at least one surface thereof is 5X10 /mm or more and the ratio (NR) of the number of projections/ the number of particles being the ratio of the number of projections and the number of the particles contained in the surface layer on the film is 5 or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve traveling properties and cutting resistance, to reduce a decrease in picture quality and to improve skew characteristics of a biaxially oriented laminated film by forming the film in a laminated structure of three or more layers, incorporating special particles in an outermost layer of its one side surface, and simultaneously processing means such as enhancing intrinsic viscosity of the outermost layer part. CONSTITUTION:A biaxially oriented laminated film is formed of a laminated structure of at least three or more layers. In this case, particles are contained at least in an outermost layer of its one side surface of the film. The relationship between a mean particle size (d) (mum) of the particle and a thickness(t) of the outermost layer is so set as to satisfy 0.2d -2X10 mm . Further, intrinsic viscosity of an intermediate layer is set to higher than that of the outermost layer part. Thus, fine protrusions on the surface of the film are optimized to improve traveling properties and cutting resistance, a decrease in picture quality at the time of using it as a magnetic medium is reduced, and its skew characteristics are improved.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the coiling and output properties of this polyester film by limiting the relationship between the layer thickness and average particle diameter of polyester A containing particles and the content of particles within specific threshold values and forming the surface of the layer B side so that it has a specific surface formation. CONSTITUTION:This biaxially oriented film consists of polyester A containing 2 to 20wt.% of at least, one type of particle laminated on the one surface of polyester B. The ratio t/d of the thickness(t) of polyester A and the average particle diameter(d) contained in the polyester A layer is 0.1 to 2.5. The polyester B layer contains 0.1 to 1.5wt.% of particles with an average particle diameter of 0.1d to 2d. Polyesters A, B are not particularly defined and the crystalline type of polyester is used from a viewpoint of coiling and output properties. Particles in the polyester A layer are not particularly defined, and alumina silicate and silica particles are used. The size of the particles averages 0.03 to 1.5mum in diameter.
