    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide thermosetting resin solutions excellent in planarization properties, suitable in prevention of occurrence of a failure of display due to the surface irregularity of a color filter of a liquid crystal display and in the prevention of occurrence of defects in coating; color filters using the thermosetting resin solution compositions which do not cause a failure of display due to their surface irregularity and reduce defects in coating; and liquid crystal displays. SOLUTION: The overcoat of a color filter is formed from a thermosetting resin solution composition composed of a compound having at least one of an alkoxysilane, a silanol and a silanol condensation product and at least one of an acid anhydride and a carboxylic acid in the same molecule and an alicyclic epoxy compound.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosetting resin soln. compsn. which is suitable to prevent production of display failures in a liquid crystal display device and to prevent coating defects by incorporating a specified compd. and an epoxy compd. SOLUTION: This thermosetting resin soln. compsn. for a color filter is obtd. by using a compd. having at least one kind of carboxylic acid and acid anhydride, and a group having 70 to 1000 mol.wt. and a planer structure in one molecule as a curing agent, and curing an epoxy compd. The compd. as the curing agent is preferably obtd. by the reaction of a compd. having acid anhydride and a diamine of 70 to 1000 mol.wt. having groups of a planer structure. The compd. including acid anhydride is preferably trimellitic acid anhydride. The diamine is preferably a diamine containing a fluorene group. It is preferable that the diamine containing fluorene has a structure expressed by the formula.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve flatness on a color filter surface and to prevent the occurrence of a display fault based on the raggedness on the surface by forming an overcoat layer after grinding a colored layer. SOLUTION: This color filter consists of a black matrix 2 formed in a pattern shape on a light transmissive substrate 1, a colored layer 3 formed on an opening part on which no the black matrix 2 exists and a overcoat 4 formed on the colored layer 3. At this time, the colored layer 3 is ground partially and the overcoat 4 is applied onto it. At the time, the part to be ground of the colored layer 3 is preferred to make the part exceeding the thickness adding 0.3 μm to the minimum value of the colored layer film thickness on the opening part for improving the flatness of the color filter. Further, the position to be ground is preferred to make it the part that the black matrix 2 being the part that the colored layer 3 rises and the colored layer 3 are overlapped.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a paste for a color filter which hardly produces coating defects by specifying the change rate of the viscosity when a specified shear rate is applied to the paste. SOLUTION: This paste for a color filter essentially consists of pigments, polymers and solvent. The paste is prepared in such a manner that when 5 rpm shear rate is continuously applied to the paste, the change rate of the viscosity is within 5%. When a paste shows increase of >=5% in the viscosity under continuous shear, it is supposed that aggregation of pigments is accelerated in the paste to increase the viscosity. This causes problems on the coating property and the storage stability. If a paste shows decrease of >=5% in the viscosity, it is supposed that the structure of aggregation of pigments is broken by shear, and this causes problems on the coating property and the performance of a paste coating film. In this method, the viscometer used to measure the viscosity of the paste for a color filter is not specified, and a capillary viscometer, rotating-cylinder viscometer, cone and plate viscometer or the like can be used, and especially, a cone and plate viscometer is preferably used.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a resin black matrix which has high light shieldability and excellent surface flatness and is improved in adhesion property to substrate by incorporating a siloxane bond into the main chain of the polyimide of the resin black matrix formed by dispersing a light shielding agent into the polyimide. The paste for the resin black matrix is a paste for resin black matrix contg. polyamic acid, solvent and light shielding agent. The polyamic acid contains the siloxane bond in the main chain. The polyimide obtd. by heating the polyamic acid obtd. by bringing diamine and detracarboxylic dianhydride into reaction or by imidization with a suitable catalyst has the structural unit expressed by the formula. In the formula, R denotes 1 to 22C bivalent org. group, R denotes 2 to 22C quadrivalent org. group.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a coating material contg. magnetic particulates capable of easily changing color tones in spite of the coating material and the coating film. CONSTITUTION:This coating material consists of magnetic particulates 1, a light transparent resin 2 and a solvent. This coating film consists of a two- layered structure consisting of a layer formed by applying and drying the coating material and a surface protective layer 3. This coating material changes the color tones by the orienting direction of the magnetic particulates 1 and, therefore, the display method utilizing this coating film is capable of making display over the entire surface of a wall surface and is capable of stably maintaining the display content for a long period of time without requiring any energy at all. In addition, rapid and easy rewriting is possible and the excellent repeating durability of rewriting is obtd. Further, the display having the excellent contrast is obtd. In addition, the color of the wall changes and, therefore, the unexpectedness to the display is large and the display effect is high.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To hold picture image information which excels in contrast in stable condition for a long period of time and enables rewriting speedily and easily by supplying heat energy and magnetic field to a display section in which magnetic minute particles are dispersed in a light transmission material. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 3 and a magnetic head 4 which gives magnetic field in the vertical direction to a display section made of a light transmission material 2 in which needle-like magnetic minute particles 1 are dispersed are arranged in the display section, and the heads 3, 4 are moved in the arrow direction based on signals from a controller. As a result, the needle-like magnetic minute particles 1 in a part which is heated by the thermal head 3 change the direction of orientation from the parallel direction to the vertical direction to a display surface, and a picture image is written. It is possible to hold the picture image which is written once in stable condition for a long period of time without giving any energy from the outside. Also, it is possible to change the picture image repeatedly by changing the direction of the magnetic field of the magnetic head 4 into the parallel and vertical directions to the display surface.

The drive part is the assembly 1 of insulating fibers and of fibers provided with an electrification-preventing effect. Consequently, it is possible to obtain the electrostatic driving device whose constitution is simple and which is constituted of an assembly of thin filmlike and flexible fibers.
