The electrostatic atomizer M5 has a plate-shaped surface electrode 101 that is inclined and a plate-shaped counter electrode 102 that is parallel to the surface electrode. A solution is sprayed by a spraying machine 108 on the top end of the surface electrode 101. The solution is atomized by an electric field between the surface electrode 101 and the counter electrode 102 while the solution is formed into a thin film and flows down on the surface of the surface electrode 101.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable to use an aqueous coating material for a long period of time by a method wherein an aqueous coating material is used in a disk-type electrostatic coating device, and a washing liquid is jetted toward a coating material flowing surface of a rotary disk from a jetting nozzle which is placed facing against the coating material flowing surface. CONSTITUTION:In the disk-type electrostatic coating device, the aqueous coating material is used as a coating material, and the washing liquid is intermittently jetted toward the coating material flowing surface 4 of the rotary disk 1 or a peripheral part of the back surface 6 thereof from a jetting nozzle 7, 7' placed oppositely to the flowing surface 4 or the back surface 6. A rotating force for the disk 1 is supplied from a motor 10, and a supplying pipe 9 for the coating material is provided at a central part of a rotary shaft 8. The coating material is diffused on the flowing surface 4 of the rotary disk 1 by a centrifugal force, is spread into the shape of a thin film, reaches a knife edge 3, is electrically charged, while it is scattered in the form of a mist and is coated. Accordingly, the coating material can be prevented from solidification and stacking.
