Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for producing a deep-nested embossed paper products comprising one or more plies of paper where the resulting embossed ply or plies of paper comprise a plurality of embossments having an average embossment height of at least about 650 µm and have a high finished product wet burst strength relative to the unembossed wet strength. The present invention relates to a process for producing deep-nested embossed paper products comprising the steps of a) delivering one or more plies (12) of paper to a deep-nested embossing device, b) conditioning the one or more plies of paper, wherein the conditioning step comprises heating the one or more plies of paper, adding moisture to the one or more plies of paper, or both heating and adding moisture to the one or more plies of paper, and c) embossing the one or more plies of the paper where the resulting embossed ply or plies of paper comprise a plurality of embossments having an average embossment height (31) of at least about 650 µm.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A multiply tissue towel comprising at least two plies of a tissue interconnected to each other layer by layer. The multiply tissue further comprises a layer of super absorbent fibre-like parti-cles in at least one interface region in between two adjacent plies of said tissue webs, wherein the basis weight of said layer is in the order of 0.5% to 50% of the overall basis weight of said two adjacent plies of tissue.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel method and system for extrusion embossing. In particular, the present invention provides a method and system for embossing a multi-layer flexible packaging material whereby one layer is embossed simultaneously with the extrusion of an adjacent layer and the lamination of an additional layer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for embossing and/or satin-finishing a flat material, comprising at least two embossing rolls that are linked with a drive and that can be driven individually or jointly. The rolls can be elastically pressed against each other and the pyramidal teeth of the rolls have a flattened tip. In order to produce an embossed structure with variable optical effects the teeth (T2) of at least one of the rolls are adapted to provide the flat material, especially the metallized packaging foil, with a sign (L) whose aspect varies depending on the visual angle of the viewer (O) and/or kind and/or location of the source of light (LS). These teeth (T2) have, for example, a height that is inferior to that of the remaining teeth (T1). The inventive device allows not only production of special effects by embossing but also production of security features that are especially forgery-proof.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device (1) for embossing and/or glazing fine metallic paper, comprising at least a first (2) and a second (3) embossing roll. The flat material (6) can be fed under pressure between said embossing rolls, in order to create a pattern. At least an additional embossing roll (4) is connected downstream of the second embossing roll (3). Said additional embossing roll interacts with the first (2) or preceding (3) embossing roll. The patterned flat material (6) can be fed between these embossing rolls, in order to be embossed again with substantially the same pattern. In complex processing methods, it is advantageous to synchronise the embossing rolls.
Abstract:
A paper sheet, in particular for use as toilet tissue, consisting of at least one ply of absorbent crepe paper with a basis weight of 12-35 g/m , and having first (10) and second (2) projections forming first and second patterns respectively. The first pattern consists of pattern elements that each consist of at least one of said first projections (10) and are relatively far apart, while the second or background pattern includes said second projections (2) arranged closer together between said pattern elements. The pattern elements form a graphic pattern by being distributed in a concentration of no more than 0.5 elements per square centimetre, the first projections (10) forming said elements have a linear top surface with a width of 0.1-2 mm, and the second projections (2) are distributed in a concentration of at least 30 and preferably 40 per square centimetre, and provide most of the functional features of the paper.

A method of forming a textured surface in a sheet of photographic paper (10) by washing the paper (10) for a predetermined period of time, repeatedly cockling the sheet to form a plurality of randomly placed ridges (14) and valleys (16) in the paper (10), and compressing the paper (10) in a press.
Abstract:
A process for manufacturing a multi-ply paper product is disclosed. The process includes the steps of: 1. Providing a web substrate; 2. Providing a pattern roll; 3. Providing an anvil roll having a hardness of less than about 40 P&J; 4. Providing an embossing roll having a hardness of greater than about 40 P&J; 5.
