Abstract:
Systems for marking a moving film that include a triggering apparatus (140) that repeatedly provides a trigger signal, a controller (120) that receives the trigger signal and generates a marking signal, and a marking device (130) that receives the marking signal and marks the film are provided Also provided are methods for marking a moving film that employ the systems. Apparatuses for marking a moving film that include the triggering apparatus and the controller are also provided. Methods for making metallized marked films that include a film marked by these systems and a metallized layer, in which at least one marking is embedded within the film are also provided. Also provided are methods for making packages and packing a product in these packages, in which the packages include the metallized marked films are also provided.
Abstract:
Forming webs and packages are provided having improved sealability to peelable lidstocks. The thermoformed containers (12) may have a mouth (14) having an opening and a flange being disposed about the opening, the flange formed from a forming web and having a thickness greater than about 12 mils and up to about 80 mils. The forming web may have a base layer (20) with a skim coating (24) thereon, a portion of the skim coating being on the flange having a skim coating thickness from about 2 mils to about 8 mils. A peelable lid (18) may include a film (28) with an inner lid sealant layer (26) which is sealed to the portion of the skim coating on the flange, the skim coating and inner lid sealant layer each having a common polyolefin majority component, the common polyolefin component being different than a majority component of the base layer.
Abstract:
Methods of making containers are provided, including providing a material sheet (200) having at least two barrier layers (204) and at least two polymer layers (202), forming the material sheet into a tube (312), sealing the tube at a seal area, and blow molding the tube to form a container in which the at least two barrier layers form a substantially continuous barrier at the seal area.
Abstract:
Recloseable, stand-up flexible packages are provided for containing a product therein. The packages (10) generally include gusseted top and bottom walls (16, 18) disposed between front and back panels (12, 14). In embodiments, a line of weakness (25) may define an opening panel (24) extending across at least a portion of the gusseted top wall (16) onto a portion of one or both of the front panel (12) and back panel (14). A resealable flexible sealing label (26) may be disposed over and extend beyond the opening panel (24) over a portion of one or both of the front panel (12) and back panel (14) in an overlapping area. In embodiments, a transverse peelable seam (15) extends from and is positioned along an edge of the gusseted top wall (16) and one of the front or back panel (12, 14), the transverse peelable seam (15) being formed from a peelable and resealable adhesive.
Abstract:
A multiple portion packaging tray comprising a plurality of pliable polymer containers configured in an array, each comprising a receptacle and an integral peripheral flange extending from the receptacle, the flanges integrally connecting adjacent containers to one another along perforation lines comprising a series of alternating openings and land areas wherein the land areas are sized so that the containers are separated by tearing apart the flanges without propagating cracks across the flanges. The method of making a multiple portion packaging tray in a former comprising a form station and a separate trim station comprising the steps of thermoforming the multiple portion packaging tray and cutting the perimeter and perforation lines of the multiple portion packaging tray to create a series of alternating openings and land areas.
Abstract:
Multi-ply films are provided that include a top layer affixed to a coextruded film. The coextruded film includes at least a first polyamide structural layer, a sealant layer, and a first tie layer that is disposed between the first polyamide structural layer and the sealant layer, in which the coextruded film is substantially free of an adhesive. Packages that include the multi-ply films and methods for sterilization are also provided.
Abstract:
