Abstract: A cling wrap comprising a first surface having an embossed area including a plurality of protrusions therefrom forming a plurality of raised contact surfaces and a base surface, wherein the total surface area of said raised contact surfaces comprises less than about 10 percent of the total surface area of the embossed area. An adhesive is applied to cover at least 80 percent of the embossed area. The cling wrap is acceptable for direct food contact and is sufficiently heat resistant for microwave re-heating.

Abstract: A venting tape for use in venting an enclosed article space to be filled with an injected expandable foam material. The venting tape includes a polymeric film having a plurality of minute perforations formed therethrough. The perforations are sized to allow the passage of a gas therethrough yet prevent the passage of expandable foam insulation. The venting tape further includes an adhesive layer on one side of the film in a pattern enabling a substantial portion of the minute perforations to remain uncovered by the adhesive layer.

Abstract: A substance delivery system has a three dimensional structure with outermost surface features and spaces for containing a substance. The substance has a level below the outermost surface features such that the substance is protected from inadvertent contact with external surfaces. The substance remains protected until the three dimensional structure is sufficiently deformed into a substantially two dimensional structure and the substance is thereby exposed to contact an external surface without compliance of the external surface being necessary. Deforming is preferably achieved by a compression force, wherein the outermost surface features of the three dimensional structure deform in a direction of the compression force. A method of making the three dimensional material includes the steps of coating a substance onto a forming surface, transferring the coating of substance from the forming surface to a piece of material, and forming the piece of material into a three dimensional structure on the forming surface while the substance is in contact with the forming surface.

Abstract: A heat-activatable adhesive article is provided. The article, preferably a tape, includes a substantially laterally stable heat recoverable carrier film having at least one surface comprising a recessed surface portion and a raised surface portion therein; and an adhesive layer in the recessed surface portion in an amount such that the adhesive does not extend above the raised surface portion thereby forming an exposed raised surface portion. In use, the carrier film recovers upon exposure to heat thereby allowing the adhesive in the recessed surface portion to contact a substrate. The heat-activatable adhesive article can be positionable, repositionable, or both.

Abstract: Methods of forming laminating adhesive articles include providing a multi-layer article, and a tool with a structured surface. The multi-layer articles include a substrate, an adhesive layer, and a liner. The multi-layer article is placed between the structured surface of the tool and a support surface that is hard and the tool is embossed against the liner by applying pressure or pressure/heat. The embossing causes the tool structures to distort the liner and the adhesive layer, and causes permanent topological changes in a portion of the adhesive layer, but does not distort the substrate. The distortion in the liner is retained upon release of the applied pressure. The portions of topologically changed adhesive can form convex structures that are permanent. Upon removal of the liner from the adhesive layer, the concave structures on the adhesive layer are unstable, but the convex structures are stable.

Abstract: An adhesive member for bonding a liquid crystal panel to a protective panel that has a window frame portion on a bonding surface includes an adhesive layer, and a pair of protective sheets respectively temporarily attached to both surfaces of the adhesive layer. One of the pair of protective sheets has a temporary attachment-side protrusion formed thereon having the same shape and height dimensions as the window frame portion formed on the bonding surface of the protective panel, and the adhesive layer is arranged between the pair of protective sheets so as to conform to the shape and height dimensions of the temporary attachment-side protrusion on the protective sheet.
