Abstract:
Provided is a heat conductive silicone grease composition, including: (A) 100 parts by volume of an organopolysiloxane with a specific structure and with a kinematic viscosity at 25°C of 10 to 10,000 mm 2 /s, (B) 0.1 to 50 parts by volume of an alkoxysilane with a specific structure, and (C) 100 to 2,500 parts by volume of a heat conductive filler. The composition exhibits high thermal conductivity, retains excellent fluidity meaning the composition exhibits favorable workability, and is capable of filling fine indentations, thereby reducing contact resistance and providing excellent heat radiation performance. Also, the durability, under conditions of high temperature and high humidity, of the composition is improved, thereby improving the reliability of the composition during actual use. Heat generated by a heat-generating body can be dissipated into a heat-radiating body by sandwiching the composition between the heat-generating body and the heat-radiating body.
Abstract:
Particles of thiocarbonate salts, thioesters or complexes are stabilized by being isolated from contact with water, CO₂ and oxygen and are encapsulated in a coating effective to prevent future contact of the particles with water, CO₂ and oxygen. The particles are preferably prepared in an environment from which water, CO₂ and oxygen are excluded. The coating may be a wax, a water-free oil or grease, sulfur or a natural or synthetic polymerizable resin. Various preparative and encapsulating techniques are disclosed.
Abstract:
A composition which comprises (a) a salt of monovalent metal (M) of a carboxylic acid in which the COOH group is attached to a ring atom of a fused ring system and (b) a grease which is a non-soap thickened oil which may be a mineral oil or a synthetic oil such as a silicone oil. The metal (M) may be sodium. The fused ring system is preferably a fused aromatic hydrocarbon ring system such as naphthalene and may include further substituents, for example an -OH group, in addition to the COOH group. If the acid contains both OH and COOH groups, these can be attached to adjacent atoms of the fused ring system. Sodium 2-naphthoate and sodium 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoate have been found to be particularly suitable. The grease has improved corrosion resistance and the addition of the metal compound does not result in destructing of the grease.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the use of ionic liquids for production of water-resistant lubricating grease compositions, which are used in a temperature range from at least 30° C. to at least 180° C. and have good anticorrosion properties.
Abstract:
Silicone grease compositions are prepared by blending a thickening agent with a liquified crosslinked organosiloxane gel produced using a platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction. The gel is liquified by application of a shearing force to the crosslinked gel. The shearing force can be applied prior to and/or during blending of the gel with the thickener.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a formulated conductive grease for an associated bearing that can be used in a drive system, such as a variable frequency drive system for motors having a formulation sufficient to reduce the voltage build up that causes damaging electric discharge machining (“EDM”) on rotational bearing supported surfaces, such as inner and outer races, while still maintaining a grease composition suitable for bearing long life at operational temperatures. The higher conductivity of the inventive grease results in lowering of the threshold voltage of pulse discharges, which consequently decreases the energy release in each pulse and the resulting bearing temperatures, avoiding bearing damage. The disclosure further provides a bearing lifetime prediction model given typical discharge conditions from both Si and SiC inverters using a bearing state of health (SOH) metric.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an effective thermal grease comprising a hyperbranched olefinic fluid and a thermally conductive filler. Property-modifying additives and fillers may also be included. The hyperbranched olefinic fluid is selected to have an average of at least 1.5 methine carbons per oligomer molecule and at least 40 methine carbons per one thousand total carbons. The thermal grease exhibits a flash point of 180° C. or higher, a pour point of 0° C. or lower, and a kinematic viscosity at 40° C. of no more than 200 cSt (0.0002 m 2/s). The composition may offer improved thermal conductivity, reduced tendency to migrate, and lower cost when compared with many other thermal greases, including silicone-based thermal greases.
Abstract:
A grease composition includes at least one mineral-based or synthetic-based oil, individually or in a mixture; at least one fatty acid simple or complex metal soap as thickener; at least one molybdenum dithiocarbamate; and graphite. The grease can be used for constant velocity joints of a motor vehicle transmission.
