Abstract:
A parking area entrance or exit barrier (10,20) includes a control system (14,24) which receives inputs from various accessories associated with the operation of the barrier (10,20), and which provides control signals to the various accessories of the barrier (10,20). One of the accessories includes a sensor (12) attached to the barrier (10,20). The sensor (12) senses an accident event, such as contact between the barrier (10,20) and a vehicle. Whenever an accident event is sensed, the control system (14,24) creates an accident event log of information concerning the accident event. The accident event log may include video images of the barrier (10,20), a position of the barrier (10,20), a movement direction and speed of the barrier (10,20), and an approximated speed of the vehicle. The control system (14,24) may also monitor a performance of the various accessories of the barrier (10,20) and create a performance log relating to any malfunction of the accessories. The performance of the accessories may also indicate tampering or fraudulent activities concerning the parking barrier (10,20), such as an attendant stealing parking fees. The accident event log and/or performance log may be transmitted to a central service facility (84). Further, the central service facility (84) can remotely change operating parameters of the control system (14,24).
Abstract:
A disengageable stop for a fire door or security gate includes a brake actuator for releasing a brake. An expandable linkage, havig a normal length and having an elongate length when an external force is applied thereto, has a first end connected to the brake actuator. A second end of the expandable linkage is connected to a fire condition sensitive device, which releases the second end upon a fire indicative condition. With the fire door, or any other type of door, a DC generator is connected to the door and produces power as the door moves from its open position to its closed position. A DC motor is also connected to the door and has an ability to move the door from its closed position to its open position. A first power terminal is connected to the motor, and adapted to receive a second terminal of a portable, rechargeable DC battery.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a system for opening and closing a window aperture, the system comprising: a moveable window panel; a pulley assembly coupled to the moveable window panel; a counterweight; and a pulley actuation mechanism. The moveable panel is heavier than the counterweight, the latter being attached to a first lateral side of the moveable panel via a first part of the pulley assembly. The pulley actuation mechanism is attached to an opposite lateral side of the moveable panel via a second part of the pulley assembly. The pulley actuation mechanism is switchable between energised and non-energised states based on one or more trigger events, between a closing mode whereby the pulley actuation mechanism retracts the second part of the pulley assembly thus imparting an additional closing force to the moveable panel sufficient to raise the moveable panel; and an opening mode whereby the pulley actuation mechanism is non-energised such that a passive opening force is imparted to the moveable panel by virtue of its weight to lower the moveable panel. A system for controlling a window system based on aircraft detection is also disclosed.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a supporting and operating mechanism for a sliding door, including an upright strut (2) at the door's vertical edge, by way of which the supporting and operating mechanism is linked with a door (1). The upright strut (2) has its top end provided with at least two sets of rollers (3, 4), of which an upper roller set (3, 3) is adapted to roll along the top surface of a first horizontal track (5) and a lower roller set (4, 4) is adapted to roll along the bottom surface of the first horizontal track (5). The upright strut (2) has its bottom end provided with at least two sets of rollers (3, 4), of which an upper roller set (3) is adapted to roll along the top surface of a second horizontal track (6) and a lower roller set (4, 4) is adapted to roll along the bottom surface of the second horizontal track (6). The horizontal run of a belt or chain (10), drivable back and forth by the motor (9), includes an engagement point (13) which is attached to the upright strut (2).

Abstract:
A time delay release mechanism (10) has a brake actuator (44) including an actuation member movable between engaged and released positions. A timer (110), when receiving electrical power (13) or when power thereto is interrupted for a duration less than a predtermined time period, disengages from the actuation member (44) allowing the actuation driver, when power thereto is initially interrupted, to move the actuation member (44) to the engaged position. The timer (110) engages the actuation member, when power to the timer is interrupted for a duration greater than the predetermined time period, to move the actuation member (44) to the released position thereby overriding the actuation driver to allow closure of the fire barrier (16). The timer (110) disengages from the actuation member (44) when power to the timer is restored and the actuation driver retains the actuation member in the released position when power to the actuation driver is restored, thereby automatically resetting the brake actuator (44) and timer (110).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A speed controller for self-closing sliding doors for controlling the closing speed of an automatic self-closing sliding door, characterized by comprising a generator provided in conjunction with the sliding door, one-way motion transmitting means for converting a linear motion occurring when the sliding door is closed to a rotating motion to transmit it to the generator, an electric resistor connected to the output of the generator, and speed changing means for decreasing the resistance of the electric resistor and thereby changing the closing speed of the sliding door from a first predetermined speed to a second predetermined speed slower than the first one in a predetermined position before the closed position of the sliding door.
