Abstract:
A sacrificial body mitigates cavitation damage to components within a pump. The sacrificial body is mounted in the pump so that flowing fluid passes over the sacrificial body, which causes the sacrificial body to shed electrons into the flowing fluid in the vicinity of the cavitation. The excess electrons tend to suppress hydrogen ions from releasing, which can mitigate cavitation. The sacrificial body is formed of a material having less resistance to corrosion due to the flowing fluid than the components of the pump. Needles are attached to the sacrificial body for immersion in the flowing fluid to facilitate the release of the electrons for the sacrificial body.

Abstract:
The invention relates to cylinder for piston engines and to a process for its production. The cylinder bore is characterized by its surface being aluminum-oxide ceramic of 3.85 - 3.95 g/cm density, containing 0.2 - 3.0 mass% calcium- and/or magnesium-fluoride, or titanium-dioxide. The oxide ceramic coated cylinder bore is produced by placing a cylindrical body sintered between 1450 and 1750 DEG C into the cylinder of the internal combustion engine, where it is fixed with shrink joint.

Abstract:
An engine operating machine having a cylinder made of magnesium alloy which is excellent in weight reduction while maintaining durability of the engine is provided. The engine operating machine has: an engine having a cylinder having a piston embedded in a cylinder bore; and an operating tool driven by the engine. The cylinder is made of magnesium alloy. A nickel plating film or a copper plating film is formed on the cylinder bore or the entire of the cylinder including the cylinder bore and an outer surface of the cylinder.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aluminum alloy having low density and enhanced heat resistance. An aluminum alloy having improved high temperature physical properties comprises: magnesium (Mg) in an amount of about 7 to about 11 wt %, silicon (Si) in an amount of about 4 to about 8 wt %, copper (Cu) in an amount of about 0.5 to about 2 wt % and manganese (Mn) in an amount of about 0.3 to about 0.7 wt %, and a balance of aluminum based on the total weight of the aluminum alloy. Vehicle parts such as a piston, a housing and/or a bed plate of high power engine, to which the aluminum alloy may be applied, are provided as well.
Abstract:
An aqueous phosphoric bonding solution consists essentially of phosphoric acid, a source of magnesium ions, and a leachable corrosion inhibitor. The bonding solution is stable with respect to inorganic metal particles, such as aluminum, which are admixed to the bonding solution for the preparation of a coating slurry. Metal parts coated with the coating compositions have very satisfactory properties such as heat and corrosion resistance.
Abstract:
A discharge valve (100) of a compressor is disclosed. The discharge valve (100) contains a spring-loaded valve body (120). Valve body (120) is preferably made of nonferrous metal like aluminum or magnesium and is coated by a covering (110) of uniform thickness, the covering (110) being preferably made of plastic material like polyetheretherketone (PEEK) by insertion molding. By that way a wear resistant and light-weight discharge valve is produced.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a scroll pump device comprising external and internal scroll members, and wherein the scroll pump device is separated into inner and outer zones. The flow streams in the two zones are kept separate, and each stream may have different chemical compositions and flow rates. The scroll pump system can provide both vacuum and pressure flow streams in a compact lightweight package, and may be used for the separation and concentration of oxygen from atmospheric air, for use, inter alia, in portable medical systems.
