Abstract:
A lighting element is disposed in an array of lighting elements. At the lighting element, a lighting status of at least one neighboring lighting element is sensed. Independent of any other lighting element, a lighting adjustment for the lighting element by applying the sensed lighting status to a predetermined rule is determined. The lighting adjustment is applied to the lighting element to adjust an illumination of the lighting element.

The present invention is directed to a crosslinked or non-croslinked polymer particle, wherein the crosslinked polymer particle comprises a copolymer of poly (alklyene glycol-graft-acrylate) that is crosslinked by at least one hydrolysable monmer or crosslinking agent. The present invention is also directed to a polymer particle comprising a crosslinked polymer particle that is a product of starting materials comprising (a) a hydrophilic monomer, (b) a hydrophobic monomer, and (c) a hydrolysable crosslinking agent (the crosslinking agent may be absent in the case of non-crosslinked particles). The present invention is still further directed to a polymer particle comprising a crosslinked copolymer, where the crosslinked copolymer includes structures represented by Formulas (I), (II), and (III), as defined in the specification. Other embodiments of the present invention also include methods of manufacturing polymer particles.
Abstract:
A context of a mobile device is determined. A context preference of a user associated with the mobile device is determined. The context of the mobile device and the user context preference is transmitted to another node and responsively returned data is received. Available free space in the mobile device is determined. All data whose timestamp is within a predetermined threshold is cached. The data is cached in at least a portion of the free space.

Systems, methods and apparatus for secure encryption and decryption of a file may be provided which may include generating, by a first processor, a plurality of encryption isokeys, wherein the plurality of encryption isokeys include a first public isokey, a second public isokey, and a private isounit; and encrypting, by the first processor, ciphertext associated with a message based on the plurality of encryption isokeys. The approach may also include receiving, by a second processor, the ciphertext associated with the message; generating, by the second processor, a plurality of decryption isokeys, wherein the plurality of decryption isokeys include the private isounit, a private decryption isokey, and the first public isokey; and decrypting, by the second processor, the message associated with the ciphertext based on the plurality of decryption isokeys.
Abstract:
A method for treating or mitigating Parkinson's disease (PD) symptoms or progression, including administering an effective amount of nicotine to a subject in need thereof, via inhalation using a nicotine inhaler or via nasal spray using a nicotine nasal spray. Significant dose-dependent improvement of all symptoms by nicotine inhaler or nicotine nasal spray is expected. A novel treatment in PD is thus provided.
Abstract:
Methods and compositions are provided for preventing and/or treating infection by disrupting interactions at or near the surface of mannosylated pathogens or other pathogens exhibiting carbohydrate-carbohydrate self-interaction, thus enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy such pathogens. In some forms, carrier molecules are provided to delivering polymers or other molecules capable of disrupting intra-cellular interaction and/or self-interaction of surface markers on cells.
Abstract:
A redundant and diverse secondary control system mirrors a primary control system but has some fundamental structural difference as compared to the primary control system to prevent a spread of a security breach from the primary control system to the secondary control system. The secondary control system may operate on different hardware built on different software written with different programming language as compared to the primary control system while performing the same function as that of the primary system. By hardware coding the algorithm to produce actuation signals, software based viruses and worms cannot interfere with the secondary control system's operation. A monitor device receives actuation signals from both the primary and secondary controls signals to determine whether an error occurred and to provide correct actuation signals to the controlled system.
Abstract:
The mathematical majorize-minimize principle is applied in various ways to process the image data to provide a more reliable image from the backscatter data using a reduced amount of memory and processing resources. A processing device processes the data set by creating an estimated image value for each voxel in the image by iteratively deriving the estimated image value through application of a majorize-minimize principle to solve a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation problem associated with a mathematical model of image data from the data. A prior probability density function for the unknown reflection coefficients is used to apply an assumption that a majority of the reflection coefficients are small. The described prior probability density functions promote sparse solutions automatically estimated from the observed data.
Abstract:
A majorize-minimize (MM) mathematical principle is applied to least squares regularization estimation problems to effect efficient processing of image data sets to provide good quality images. In a ground penetrating radar application, these approaches can reduce processing time and memory use by accounting for a symmetric nature of a given radar pulse, accounting for similar discrete time delays between transmission of a given radar pulse and reception of reflections from the given radar pulse, and accounting for a short duration of the given radar pulse.
