Abstract: The downlink control channels in a control region of each downlink subframe in a telecommunication system are divided into at least one common subset of the downlink control channels and a plurality of group subsets of the downlink control channels, such that the common subset or each common subset will be decoded by every user equipment, and each group subset will be decoded only by a limited group of user equipments. Resource assignment messages for a user equipment can then be transmitted on a downlink control channel of the relevant group subset, to avoid the need for messages to be decoded by a large number of UEs that will not act on them, while broadcast messages can be transmitted on a downlink control channel of the relevant common subset, to avoid the need for messages to be transmitted many times.

Abstract: A wireless terminal (30) capable of operating in a discontinuous mode comprising and method for operating such wireless terminal (30) facilitate measurements pertaining to position of the wireless terminal (30). The method includes receiving a message from the radio access network (20). The measurement request message is configured to indicate that measurements are to be performed by the wireless terminal on downlink signals transmitted by the base station or by the base station on downlink signals transmitted by the base station. The method further comprises, as a result of or after receiving the message, changing operation of the wireless terminal (30) from a discontinuous mode to a modified mode to facilitate performance of the measurements. Relative to the discontinuous mode at least one of following are shortened or eliminated in the modified mode: (i) the non-reception periods, and (ii) the non-transmission periods. “Changing from a discontinuous mode . . . to a modified mode” includes one or more of: (1) changing mode of the wireless terminal (e.g., changing from a discontinuous mode [such as discontinuous reception (DRX) or discontinuous transmission (DTX)] to a continuous transmission mode); (2) changing from the discontinuous mode (a first discontinuous mode) to a modified discontinuous mode (a second discontinuous mode).

Abstract: A user equipment for in use in a mobile communication system includes a receiver that receives control channel signaling including a new data indicator and a modulation and coding scheme field, and processing circuitry which determines that the new data indicator and the modulation and coding scheme field of the control channel signaling indicates a predetermined combination of a new data indicator value and a modulation and coding scheme index. The processing circuitry deactivates a semi-persistent resource allocation in response to determination that the new data indicator and the modulation and coding scheme field of the control channel signaling indicates a predetermined combination of a new data indicator value and a modulation and coding scheme index.

Abstract: A mobile station comprises a receiver and a processor. The receiver is configured to receive, from a base station, allocation information indicating one or a plurality of allocated resource block(s) of uplink which are consecutive in a frequency domain. The processor is configured to determine, based on the allocation information, one of the resources of downlink, to which an ACK or NACK signal is distributively mapped onto a plurality of resource elements in subcarrier groups. The subcarrier resources within subcarrier group are consecutive in frequency domain and nonconsecutive in the frequency domain among subcarrier groups.

The second type control information comprises at least one of an ACK/NACK information and a rank indicator (RI), and the first type control information comprises control information other than the rank indicator (RI) and the ACK/NACK information.

Abstract: Provided is a communication device, which is enabled to improve the throughput of a communication system by reducing the difference of a transmission power between an SCCH and an SDCH thereby to satisfy the required quality of a PAPR. In this device, an MCS selection unit (111) of a transmission unit (110) decides, with reference to a CQI lookup table, an MCS pattern (MCS1) of the SDCH, an MCS pattern (MCS2) of the SCCH and information (multiplex information) on multiplex positions on the time axes of those two channels, on the basis of the CQI information. On the basis of the MCS2 and the MCS1, encoding modulation units (112 and 113) perform encoding and modulating operations. According to the multiplex information, a channel multiplexing unit (114) time-division multiplexes the SCCH and the SDCH thereby to generate a transmission signal.

Abstract: A random access channel (RACH) procedure includes a mobile terminal receiving from a network a message that indicates a RACH preamble for the mobile terminal. The terminal transmits the RACH preamble to the network and then receives a RACH response from the network. The terminal monitors a downlink channel according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) active time for radio resource allocation information for a data transmission by the terminal. The DRX active time specifies a time until the radio resource allocation information for the data transmission is indicated.

Abstract: Scheduling requests are transmitted from a mobile terminal to a base station. The mobile sends a first scheduling request to the base station, the first scheduling request being associated with first data to be transmitted to the base station. The mobile receives a scheduling grant from the base station in response to the first scheduling request and transmits a buffer status report to the base station in response to receiving the scheduling grant. An HARQ acknowledgment for the buffer status report is received. Second data is received for transmission to the base station while at least some of the first data is waiting to be transmitted to the base station. A change in a buffer status of the mobile terminal is detected indicating that the second data has higher priority than the first data. The mobile transmits a second subsequent scheduling request to the base station in response to the change in buffer status.
