    Abstract: PURPOSE: An adaptive modulation/demodulation device applied to an MIMO(Multi-Input Multi-Output) system having a layered space-time architecture detector and a method thereof are provided to determine an equivalent channel gain, and to determine the number of bits and transmission power to be transmitted through each antenna by using the equivalent channel gain, thereby improving system performance.
