Abstract: Determining a gas mixture consumption comprises calibrating a gas meter as the energy measuring device, where the calibration is based on a base gas mixture; and multiplying the measured energy consumption value with a correcting factor which considers the calorific value of the gas mixture. The calorific value is determined by an external unit. An Independent claim is also included for the gas meter used in the process. Preferred Features: Sensor signal values are determined for the calibration depending on the flow rate of a calibrating gas, and stored in the gas meter. The calibrating gas is air or oxygen.

Abstract: Described is a method and a device for more accurate measurement of a gas supply with a gas meter. A consumption-weighted correction factor is determined by weight averaging of a sensor error factor of the gas meter with a consumption profile characteristic of the gas supply location and the measuring signal is converted using the correction factor. Embodiments relate inter alia to: operation of the gas meter as volume, mass or energy meter; formulae for determining the correction factor with sensor error factors and consumption profiles relative to volume, mass or energy; and measuring signal correction in the case of a non-registering or registering gas meter. Advantages are inter alia: subsequent customer-specific measuring signal correction; no additional measuring complexity; and improved measuring accuracy, in particular improved energy measurement by means of compensation for inherent deviations of the energy signal in the vase of heat value variations.

Abstract: An apparatus for capacitively determining a position of a counter wheel (1) in a wheel counter mechanism has fixed electrodes (3, 3') at a distance from the counter wheel (1). Extending over the circumference of the counter wheel (1) are a sequence of measurement electrodes (12, 12', 12" ), and electrically nonconductive sections (13, 13') arranged between said measurement electrodes. This means that it is possible to detect either a high or a low capacitance value, that is to say a binary value of either 0 or 1, for each position of the counter wheel and for each fixed electrode. According to the number of fixed electrodes for each counter wheel, these binary values can be combined to form a binary representation of any desired number characterizing the current position of the counter wheel (1).
