Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase repeatability or uniformity of an electron emission characteristic, by applying a droplet by temperature control of a head of an ink jet device, and by forming a conductive film. SOLUTION: This surface conduction type electron emission element is formed by facing element electrodes 2, 3 to each other on a board 1. A film is formed from element electrode material by a vacuum deposition method, a sputtering method or the like, and the element electrodes 2, 3 are formed by a method for patterning by lift-off, etching or the like, or by a method for printing and baking a paste including the element electrode material. Thereafter, a droplet 9 including material for forming a conductive film 4 is applied on the board 1 where the element electrodes 2, 3 are formed by using a head 8 of a droplet application device. A mechanism for keeping a temperature constant is provided on the head 8 part of the droplet application device, and as for the temperature width to be controlled, the head 8 temperature is preferably controlled within a temperature width of ±0.2 deg.C, and hereby excellent uniformity can be obtained. And the conductive film 4 is formed by executing a drying or heating treatment or the like, if necessary.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a liquid crystal element capable of preventing the deterioration of a liquid crystal material by the denaturization, etc., thereof, making a cell gap uniform within the plane and rapidly injecting smectic liquid crystals. SOLUTION: A cell 1 having a first aperture 12 and a second aperture 13 is formed by arranging a pair of substrates 11a, 11b opposite to each other. The first aperture 12 and the second aperture 13 are provided with a pressure difference. The liquid crystals having a smectic phase previously heated to a liquid phase are injected into the cell 1 for the prescribed time from the first aperture 12. The liquid crystals are packed into the cell while the liquid crystals past the inside of the cell 1 are discharged from the second aperture 13. The liquid crystals in the part of the second aperture 13 are cooled to the smectic phase before the difference pressure between the first aperture 12 and the second aperture 13 is released. As a result, the generation of the uninjected regions of the liquid crystals which arises heretofore by accompanying with the release of the differential pressure described above is averted.

Excessive recessing is thereby prevented and the cell gaps are made uniform.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent deposition of a resin on the surface of metal electrodes and to prevent delay of voltage waveforms. CONSTITUTION: A glass substrate 11 on which lots of metal electrodes are formed and a flat smooth die 16 on which a UV-curing resin 13 is dropped are set on a pressing machine 30 and pressed. In the pressed state, the edge part of the substrate 11 is irradiated with UV light to cure the resin 13 in the edge part. With this cured resin 13, flatness of the glass substrate 11 can be maintained in a good state even after the pressed state is released. Therefore, uneven film thickness of the resin 13 or deposition of the resin on the surface of metal electrode can be prevented. As a result, even when a transparent electrode is formed on the surface of metal electrodes, good continuity between the transparent electrode and metal electrodes can be maintained, which decreases the resistance and prevents delay in voltage waveforms.
