    Abstract: A method and system to selectively secure the display of advertisements on web browsers. A method in accordance with an embodiment includes: defining a particular displayed area of the interpreted markup file; obtaining the DOM tree of the interpreted markup file, the DOM tree comprising parent and child nodes, each node being associated with displayable elements; identifying in the DOM tree a set of child nodes whose displayable elements comprise the particular displayed area; identifying in the DOM tree a first parent node comprising the set of child nodes; converting displayable elements associated with the identified first parent node to an image; generating a second parent node comprising the image; and modifying the DOM tree into a modified DOM tree by deleting the identified set of child nodes and by replacing the identified first parent node by the second parent node.

    Abstract: A named range defined by a cell address range in a spreadsheet comprises a plurality of cells identified in each dimension by an address, each dimension comprising two directions. An open named range is specifyed to the named range in at least one open direction. A hidden named range with the cell address range of the open named range is expanded by one address in every direction specified as open. In response to user action, at least one direction is selected, the cell address range of the hidden named range is increased by inserting between two consecutive cell addresses, a new address in selected directions, the open named range is updated with the cell address range of the hidden named range shortened by one address in every direction specified as open.

    Abstract: A method and system for managing deletion operations in a recursive scalable template instance (RSTI) of an electronic data table having dimensions D1 and D2. The RSTI includes contiguous recursive element instances (REIs) ordered and aligned along D1. The REIs include scalable template instances (STIs). Contiguous elements are deleted, upon satisfying consistency condition(s), in a first STI. The RSTI is structured according to an associated recursive scalable template (RST) that includes a recursive element (RE) including at least one scalable template (ST). Each STI is structured according to an associated ST. The contiguous elements are structured according to a first ST associated with the first STI. A size of the first REI along dimension D1 is adjusted according to a size of a largest STI in the first REI. All REIs of the RSTI remain contiguous after the deleting and adjusting.

    Abstract: In a radio extension of an ATM network, prior to establishing a given connection the switch of a fixed network enquires access points as to what is the resource situation in said access points. After receiving responses the switch decides to which access point the connection is allocated.     Abstract: Methods for handoff in a wireless communication network comprised of a local area network connected to a plurality of base stations, each of which has a geographic area, defined as a cell, within which mobile stations can communicate with a base station, with each such base station being capable of performing bidirectional wireless communication with one or more of said mobile stations under control of a controller, with communication between base stations and mobile stations being performed by frequency hopping, with there being n available frequency hopping channels in a fixed frequency band, with each channel being of a same fixed duration and having a fixed frequency different than another channel. The handoff method employs structure and techniques for determining by a mobile station that the quality of transmission between it and a current base station has degraded below a predetermined performance level, structure and technique for said mobile station to listen to each of successive frequency channels for a duration substantially less than said fixed duration of a channel until it senses a transmission from another base station, and structure and techniques for transferring control of said mobile station to said another base station in response to the sensed transmission.
