Abstract: The switch control circuit has an input terminal (K1) receiving a signal (S1) dependent on the output voltage (Vout) of the switched power factor converter, supplied to a regulator (40) with at least one regulation amplifier (OTA1) and a compensation network (41) with at least one capacitor (C4,C5) for determining the regulation characteristics. A protection circuit (30) detects a critical condition of the switched power factor converter, for providing a protection signal (S3), supplied to a signal generation circuit (20) together with the regulation signal (S4) from the regulation circuit, the signal generation circuit providing a pulsed control signal (S5) with a pulse ratio dependent on the regulation signal. An independent claim for a control method for a switch in a switched power factor converter is also included.

Abstract: To start a switching power supply in an energy saving manner, the method and device according to the invention transmits the energy that is collected by the Y-capacitors through a diode to a capacitor that is located on the secondary side. Once the voltage in the capacitor reaches a first predefinable minimum value, the voltage is applied to an impulse generator as an input voltage and the generator starts the switching power supply. Once the voltage in an additional capacitor on the secondary side reaches a second predefinable minimum value, the voltage in the capacitor is also applied as an input voltage to a control unit, preferably, a microprocessor, that controls the impulse generator.

Abstract: The device includes a control circuit (2) having a current bridge (6) and a bridge driver (7) over which an electrical drive (3) is supplied with a current. A temperature evaluating circuit (5) outputs a signal from a temperature of the current bridge from the supplied current. A motor current value of the drive is fed to the evaluating circuit. The temperature dependent output signal is gained through integrating the squared motor current via an RC filter plus an ambient temperature dependent magnitude. The time constant of the filter equals the thermical cooling time constant of the control circuit.
