A limiting amplifier in conjunction with a logarithmic detector splits an input signal path in two, providing separate phase and amplitude information for downstream digital signal processing, where the separate phase and amplitude information is processed without variable gain artifacts.     Abstract: A method and apparatus for radio resources control in a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system are disclosed. Radio resources are controlled by producing and applying a respective adaptive modulation and coding to each data stream. Applying a respective transmit power level to that data stream and mapping that data stream to a plurality of antennas. Each of the plurality of data streams are transmitted over different subcarriers, has a different adaptive modulation and coding (AM&C) and a different transmit power than others of the plurality of data streams.

    Abstract: A method and system for utilizing smart antenna in transmission of messages between nodes (102a-102n) are disclosed. A wireless communication system includes a plurality of nodes (102a-102n), and each node is capable of being connected to each other node. At least a portion of the nodes are provided with a smart antenna (204) configured to generate a plurality of directional beams (109a-109h). Each node maintains a list of other nodes and beam configuration information to be used in transmission of messages to other nodes. When a source node is required to transmit to a target node, the source node retrieves the beam configuration information and transmits with a directional beam (109) directed to the target node.
