Abstract:
A version of a speech signal and an output of a pitch synthesis filter and a linear predictive all-pole (LPC) filter is received. A system impulse response is produced based on in part the received pitch synthesis filter and LPC output. An excitation pulse location is determined so that the determined location minimizes an error between the speech signal version and the system impulse response. The speech signal is encoded with a representation of the determined location.
Abstract:
A radio unit used in a wireless communication system. A card reader reads information from a card. The read information includes a read telephone number stored on the card. A transceiver transmits a signal including the read telephone number to a base station. The transceiver receives calls directed to the read telephone number. The first signal enables the wireless communication system to direct calls for the read telephone number to the radio unit.
Abstract:
A master station communicates with the main network, whilst a set of mobile or fixed sub stations of voice or data users share the channel using time division multiplexing. The number of time division channels available depends on the quality of the transmission links, power and modulation index. The rate of errors is detected to maintain a specified condition of operation. When all available channels are occupied a busy signal is transmitted by the master station. The effect of multiplexing on the sub-links gives apparent simultaneous bidirectional transmission.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an AP to initiate the re-association of a WTRU without loss of performance.SOLUTION: A transceiver of an access point (AP) according to the invention is configured to send a request message to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) using a first set of communication parameters and configured to receive a response message from the WTRU using the first set of communication parameters. The request message includes an identifier of a second AP, a second set of communication parameters, and a field that indicates whether disassociation of the WTRU from the AP is immediate. The response message indicates whether the WTRU accepts or rejects connection with the second AP.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of each of a plurality of transceiver stations constituting a spread spectrum communication system, especially a mobile subscriber station unit, as much as possible.SOLUTION: In a spectrum communication system which maintains an initial transmission power level of a second transceiver station in an inactive state, a first transceiver station despreads reception signals by using a selected chip code associated with a specific spread spectrum signal from the second transceiver station and measures a power level of the despread specific signal. The second transceiver station sometimes transmits the specific spread spectrum signal during the inactive state to a first transceiver, and the first transceiver station receives it, measures a noise power level in a communication channel, estimates a system transmission power level, compares the measured values with the estimated values, and transmits automatic power control (APC) signals to the second transceiver station on the basis of a comparison result. The second transceiver station adjusts the initial transmission power level in response to the APC signals.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system capable of transferring an existing session between two terminals, in which two systems and two different IP addresses are involved.SOLUTION: Disclosed are an apparatus and a method by which Internet Protocol (IP) traffic can be transferred (i.e., handoff can be performed) between two different terminals operating according to two different technology standards in two different systems with two different IP addresses. For example, a session handoff can be made between a terminal in Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and a terminal in a 3GPP UMTS or between a terminal in CDMA 2000 and a terminal in a 3GPP UMTS. These terminals can be either different logical entities encapsulated within a common enclosure, or physically separate entities.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a code division multiple access modem for a spread spectrum communication system. SOLUTION: The system provides a modem transmitter, which includes a code generator, a spread spectrum measure composing code signals respectively, a global pilot code generator generating global pilot code signals, and a modem receiver which includes a pilot code generator, and a pilot code correlation device correlating between the code phase delay output of a pilot signal and a received CDMA signal and generating a relating pilot signal, after being inverse spread. The system responses a captured signal value and changes a code phase of the pilot signal, until the pilot signal is received. A related pilot code tracking logical circuit responses to the captured signal and adjusts phase of the relating pilot code signal, and the system provides a signal seizure circuit which makes the signal power level of the related pilot code signal after the inverse spread to be a maximum value.
