PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an agent for keeping the freshness of plants which exerts freshness-holding effect irrespective of the kinds of various cut flowers and vegetables and shows high safety by including a colloidal particle aggregation precipitant and a specific surfactant. SOLUTION: This agent for keeping the freshness of plants is obtained by including (A) a colloidal particle aggregation precipitant, (B) a sugar derivative type surfactant and/or a sugar alcohol type surfactant having the weight ratio of B to A of 0.0002-20 and (C), when necessary, saccharides, microbicides, antiseptics, plant hormones, antioxidants or the like. As the component A, an aluminum compound, e.g. aluminum sulfate or the like, calcium chloride, a polymer aggregate, e.g. a neutralized salt or the like of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate, or the like is usable. As the component B, for example, a sorbitan fatty acid ester or an alkyl polyglycoside obtained by combining a sugar or a sugar alcohol with a hydrophobic group in the form of ester linkage or glycoside linkage is favorable.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plant supporting material suitable for indoor use for supporting a flowerpot and cut flower, etc., by placing a specific water-supplying support and a water-absorbing polymer in a self-supporting vessel. SOLUTION: A porous water-supplying support having through-holes and a water-absorbing polymer swollen with water are placed in a self-supporting vessel. The porous water-supplying support is preferably made of a resin having a dry density of 0.001-0.5 g/cm3 and the water-absorbing polymer is placed preferably at the upper layer of the porous water-supplying support in the vessel. The water-absorbing polymer is produced by slightly crosslinking (forming a three-dimensional structure) a water-soluble resin to insolubilize the resin and is preferably an anionic polymer, a nonionic polymer or their mixture.
