Abstract: A method and system for effectively identifying an incoming peak traffic situation in an elevator system is provided. To allow faster detection of a peak traffic condition, use is made of both information obtained from traditional peak hour identification and history data obtained from statistics regarding the numbers of passengers. Traditional peak hour identification monitors the car weight and the number of calls in real time. Statistics provide information regarding typical rush hours in the building. In the method of the present invention, the number of passengers gathering on the lobby floor is forecast on the basis of statistics at the moment when the next elevator is at the lobby floor, ready to take in passengers. When the forecast number of passengers exceeds the car load threshold value for traditional peak hour identification, an incoming peak traffic mode can be activated reliably already on the basis of a single peak elevator.

Abstract: A genetic allocation method in an elevator group for allocating a landing call to one of several elevator cars in the elevator group, the cars moving and stopping within the area of several different floors. The elevator travel routes are encoded into alternative chromosomes. Using genetic methods, alternative chromosomes are developed and the best chromosome is selected. The elevator group is controlled in accordance with the best chromosome. The floors served by the elevator group are divided into a first group and a second group. On the floors of the first group, landing calls are given as passenger-specific destination calls. On the floors of the second group, landing calls are given as floor-specific up/down calls. When the destination calls and up/down calls are encoded into the same chromosome, the best chromosome represents an allocation decision, in which the gene values indicate which elevator car is to serve each passenger and each up/down call.

Abstract: A method for allocating calls entered via the landing call devices of elevators belonging to an elevator group so that there are simultaneously at least one floor to be signaled according to the service routes of the elevators. The allocation decision is made by a genetic allocation method. The allocation decision is input into a call fixation control unit, which takes care of the reservation and release of landing calls and the control of signaling. In the case of a reserved landing call, the range of values of the gene is limited.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for solving an optimization task consisting of a plurality of sub-functions in the control of the operation of an apparatus. In the method, a set of a plurality of solution alternatives is generated and, according to the method, each sub-function is normalized. Normalized cost functions of the sub-functions are generated for each solution alternative for solving the optimization task, and based on the normalized cost functions of the sub-functions, a set of solutions to the optimization task is formed. From the set of solutions, the best solution is selected and the apparatus is controlled in accordance with the solution thus selected.

Abstract: Elevator group control method for the allocation of landing calls, in which method a target value is assigned to a given service time of the elevator group and landing calls are so allocated to elevators that the assigned target value of the service time is realized on the average, the energy consumption of the elevator group being thereby reduced.

Abstract: Genetic procedure for the allocation of calls issued via the landing call devices of elevators included in a multi-deck elevator group, in which procedure a multi-deck elevator model is formed in which the limitations of and rules of behaviour for each elevator in the multideck elevator group and each car of each elevator are defined; a plurality of allocation options, i.e. chromosomes are formed, each of which contains a car data item and an elevator direction data item for each active landing call, and these data, i.e. genes, together define a car to serve each landing call as well as a collective control direction for the elevator; for each chromosome, a fitness function value is determined; one or more of the chromosomes are selected and altered in respect of at least one gene; fitness function values are determined for the new chromosomes; the process of altering the chromosomes, selecting chromosomes and determining fitness functions is continued until a termination criterion is met and, based on the fitness function values, the most suitable chromosome is selected and the calls are allocated to the elevators and cars in the elevator group in accordance with this solution.

Abstract: PCT No. PCT/FI96/00216 Sec. 371 Date Oct. 21, 1997 Sec. 102(e) Date Oct. 21, 1997 PCT Filed Apr. 19, 1996 PCT Pub. No. WO96/33123 PCT Pub. Date Oct. 24, 1996A procedure for allocating the calls entered via landing call devices of the elevators in an elevator bank forms several allocation options. Each allocating option contains, for each active landing call, a call data item and an elevator data item which together are used to determine which elevator should service the call. The value of a cost function is calculated for each allocation option; one or more of the allocation options is repeatedly changed with respect to at least one data item, and the values of the cost functions of the new allocation options are calculated. Based on the values of the cost functions, the best allocation option is selected and the active elevator calls are allocated to the elevators in the elevator bank accordingly.
