    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus, suitably guiding printing paper, and transporting the same at a designated distance from a head at a designated speed to perform high quality printing.
    SOLUTION: In an ink jet printer 1, the printing paper P stored in a paper feed cassette 42 is transported by a pickup roller 11, a separating roller 12 and a reversing roller 14, and guided through a guide plate 16 to the vicinity of a transport belt 17. The printing paper P guided by the guide plate 16 is abutted at a very gentle angle about 24 degrees to the transport belt 17 and placed on the transport belt 17. The printing paper P placed on the transport belt 17 is further pressed to the transport belt 17 by a pinch roller 20, and transported with the whole of the back uniformly held on the belt to the recording position by a head part 31 to be recorded.
