    Abstract: El aparato y método para descodificar páginas de datos de subtítulo que se suministran como páginas de informacion que incluye encabezados y datos de página respectivos (es decir, datos de carácter de subtítulo) que se sobreponen en una señal de video. Cada página de informacion recibida se almacena en una memoria de tipo de anillo como una página respectiva en la misma, y el encabezado de una página almacenada en la memoria se detecta antes de realizar una lectura previa de la misma. El encabezado detectado se lee de la memoria una segunda vez y el dato de página se lee de la memoria durante un tiempo de conformidad con un cierto dato incluido en el encabezado de la prelectura.     Abstract: An input signal such as a HDTV signal is split into a primary signal, which can be decoded if desired, and an secondary signal, which can remain compressed. The primary signal may be delayed and then both signals are transmitted to a receiver. If no error in the primary signal is detected, the primary signal is used to display data. Otherwise, the secondary signal, which arrives before the primary signal and consequently which is available for substitution, is displayed.

    Abstract: In a technique for decoding pages of subtitle data supplied as information pages which include respective headers and page data (i.e. subtitle character data) which are superimposed on a video signal, each received information page is stored in a ring-type memory (302) as a respective page therein, and the header of a page stored in memory is detected (303) prior to being pre-read therefrom. The detected header is read from memory a second time and the page data is read from memory at a time in accordance with certain data included in the pre-read header. The page data is decoded and supplied as an output to be combined with the video signal.
