SOLUTION: At the time of normal reproduction, a switch 30a is connected to the side of a terminal A to bypass a tracking drive signal TDR, and when the retry is carried out in the linking part, the switch 30a is changed over to the side of a terminal B so that the tracking drive signal TDR is outputted while keeping the low band component by a low-pass filter part (resistor R, capacitor C). The switch 30a is controlled based on e.g. a linking part detection signal L and a retry performance signal RT which are supplied from a system controller 10.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording medium which has time information of an existing recording medium as well as an address expressed in a binary number and is adaptive to high capacity. SOLUTION: The time information that is expressed in a BCD as a Q channel of a subcode is recorded in an existing CD-ROM and also recorded in a header included in data (Fig. 10A). To that end, a 24-bit address expression part is used. An address expressed in a binary number is recorded at the address expression part included in the header in place of the time information on the BCD (Fig. 10B). Thus, a larger number of addresses can be expressed in comparison with the BCD address expression so as to cope with increase of the disk capacity. In addition, the time of an existing player, etc., can be displayed since the time information is recorded as a subcode.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily discriminate whether or not an optical disk is made large in recording capacity. SOLUTION: The optical disk 10 is rotated at a required speed and on a required position, and a signal recorded on the optical disk is read. When the optical disk is an read-out exclusive optical disk, a frequency of a clock CKRF of a regenerative signal is detected with a control port 50. Because of the frequency of the clock of a standard optical disk is different from a high density optical disk. For instance, when the recording density is double of the standard density, the clock frequency of the high density optical disk becomes 1.4 times. As another discrimination method, by large/small of a burst error signal based on a difference of a unit delay amount at an interleave processing time, the optical disk is discriminated. when the optical disk is a writable type, by detecting the frequency of a wobble signal, or detecting an error correction result of a round code, whether the optical disk is standard standard density one, or high density one is discriminated simply and surely, and the configuration is simple.

When it is discriminated that a part or whole of data being a transfer request object cannot be transferred from a cache memory 20 by cache hit discrimination, a buffering operation concerning data which cannot be transferred is controlled in execution and also the transfer output of the data to the host equipment is controlled in accordance with that the data becomes transferable by the buffering operation.

Consequently, the rotational speed of a CD-ROM 2 is successively changed from a quadruple speed to a sextuple speed toward from an innermost peripheral to an outermost peripheral. Thus, since the variable range of the rotational speed is reduced as compared with that in the case of a CLV method and a time required for changing over the rotational speed is shortened by the amount, a seek time is shortened and also the power consumption is reduced.

With this detected level as a clamp voltage the clamping of the regenerative RF signal regenerated by the data recording area is operated at a clamp circuit 11.
