    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a DNA ink which is used for the identification of an individual and can produce a thin film having an unforgeable surface pattern for the identification, and a medium for the identification. SOLUTION: An aqueous solution of a DNA molecule is mixed with a cationic surfactant to produce a polyion complex compound of the DNA and the cationic surfactant through the reaction of the phosphate group of the DNA molecule with the acidic group of the cationic surfactant. The polyion complex compound is dissolved in an organic medium to give a DNA ink. The DNA ink is cast on a base plate to form a thin film of the polyion complex compound. The surface pattern on the thin film is so complicated that the use of this DNA ink can realize the preparation of a thin film having an unforgeable surface pattern for the identification of an individual.
