Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the sum frequency conversion efficiency and realize its stabilization by setting the incident light axis of a first and second fundamental wave laser lights against the mirror surfaces of first and second reflecting mirrors to be directed in an ablique direction. CONSTITUTION:A resonator is provided with a first and second reflecting mirrors M1 and M2 that are arranged facing each other on the light input/output end faces that face each other in at least a nonlinear optical element 3. The mirrors M1 and M2 have an infinitely high transmittance against a second fundamental wave laser light and a sum frequency light and show an infinitely high reflectance against a first fundamental wave laser light. The incident light axis of the first and second fundamental wave laser lights against the mirror surfaces of the mirrors M1 and M2 is set to be directed in an oblique direction where a specific angle is held so that the axis may be aligned with the perpendicular of the mirror surfaces. In addition, the resonator 7 consists of first to fourth reflecting mirrors M1-M4, and their light routes is made of reflected construction. Thus, the reflected light through residual reflection can be improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To extend a servo band to several tens kHz, to stably control and to efficiently wavelength-convert by using an electromagnetic actuator as means for moving at least one of a pair of reflecting means in an optical axis direction. CONSTITUTION:A basic wave laser light is phase-modulated by a phase modulator 12, and introduced to an external resonator 15 through a reflecting surface 13 for detecting a resonator reflected light and a lens 14 for condensing. At least one such as a reflecting surface 17 of a pair of reflecting surfaces 16, 17 of the resonator 15 is driven in an optical axis direction by an electromagnetic actuator 19. As the actuator 19, a voice coil drive type actuator may be used, a plurality of resonance frequencies can be incorporated in several tens kHz-100kHz or higher, and a servo band can be extended, for example, to 20kHz-several tens kHz by increasing a resonance frequency of a servo loop and reducing a phase breakaway.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively generate high power laser beam without enlarging an apparatus, by installing laser medium which generates laser beam in a light emission pattern of a higher order transversal mode, and a plurality of pumping means giving pumping energy. CONSTITUTION:An equipment generating laser beam for pumping which equipment is constuted of, e.g. a laser diode is accommodated in an excitation light source 1. A fiber array 2 is constituted of a plurality of optical fibers 2a-2c. A concave mirror 4 is constituted so as to transmit the greater part of laser light for pumping and reflect the greater part of fundamental wave laser light generated by laser medium 5. A concave mirror 6 transmits laser beam generated by laser medium in the several percent to several ten's percent range and reflects the residual part. When a plurality of optical fibers are arranged so as to correspond with a plurality of light emission patterns, higher output laser light can be generated without increasing the size of a resonator 7.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily realize a small size and to obtain a laser beam source whose output is large by a method wherein an optical resonator equipped with a nonlinear optical element is provided and an optical separation means which separates a first laser beam from a second laser beam spatially is installed. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam from a laser diode 1a is condensed by an objective (convex lens) 2a; it is incident on a laser rod 4a. A p-polarized fundamental-wave laser beam is generated; it is passed through a polarization beam splitter 5 and is incident on a nonlinear optical crystal element 6. A second harmonic beam is generated and reflected by a concave mirror. This operation is repeated; a p-polarized second harmonic beam having a prescribed optical output is obtained; one part is output from a concave mirror 3c. Regarding a laser beam from a laser diode 16, an s-polarized fundamental-wave laser beam is reflected by the polarization beam splitter 5; an s-polarized second harmonic wave beam having a prescribed optical output is obtained; one part becomes an output beam.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain synthetic light with high power density with a small spot diameter by making an optical beam incident on an optical fiber via an optical system after synthesizing with a polarizing beam splitter. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam source is equipped with first and second light sources 22A, 22B which emit first and second optical beams LA, LB having prescribed polarizing planes, an arranging means 28A which arranges the beam shape of the first optical beam LA, and an arranging means 28B which arranges the beam shape of the second optical beam LB. Also, it is equipped with the polarizing beam splitter 32 which receives the first optical beam LA outputted from the first beam arranging means 28A and also, receives the second beam LB outputted from the second beam shape arranging means 28B at a state where its polarizing plane is inclined by 90 deg. against the first optical beam LA, and synthesizes the beams LA and LB. Furthermore, it is equipped with convergence optical systems 34, 35, and 36 which converge the synthetic light LL outputted from the polarizing beam splitter 32 and introduce it to the optical fibers 40A-40N. Thereby, it is possible to obtain a laser beam with high power density with the small spot diameter.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To halve the length of laser medium by a method wherein the exciting laser beams advancing in a laser medium is reflected at one end of the laser medium to form an effective absorption region while the exciting laser beams are reciprocating in the laser medium. CONSTITUTION:Within a laser beam source 11 wherein exciting laser beams LA 11 are absorbed to emit basic wave laser beams LA 12 while the exciting laser beams LA 11 are advancing from one end 15A to the other end 15B in the laser medium 15, an effective absorption region is formed in the optical path wherein the exciting laser beams LA 11 reciprocate in the laser medium 15 by making the exciting laser beams LA 11 advancing in the laser medium 15 reflect to the other end 15B of the laser medium 15. Through these procedures, the exciting laser beams LA 11 can be prevented from mixing with the output laser beams LAOUT emitted through an output mirror 16 as stray light to halve the length of laser medium 15.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To acquire a laser beam source which can excite a solid laser efficiently, by integrating energy of light component after an imaging point based on the laser beam component which is obtained from an effective intersection arranged in a horizontal cross direction of a semiconductor laser and by using it as an excitation source for a laser medium. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam LA1 emitted from a semiconductor laser 1 of a laser source 1 is changed to a parallel laser beam LA11 by a collimator 3 and lead to a vertical crosswise cylindrical lens 12. A laser beam LA12 which is obtained by converging laser beam LA11 in a vertical crosswise direction with the lens 12 is projected to a horizontal crosswise cylindrical lens 13. The laser beam LA12 is converged in a horizontal cross direction with the lens 13, and a laser beam LA13 acquired thereby is irradiated as an excitation laser beam to a laser medium 5 of a solid laser. A laser beam LA2 emitted from the laser medium 5 is projected through an output reflection mirror 6, thus exciting a solid laser efficiently.

A fixed magnet 22 is fixed as an auxiliary magnetic field generating member opposite to an objective lens 12 of a pickup 10 centering on the disk 3. In such constitution where the magnet 22 is added into the main body 2, a sufficient auxiliary magnetic field is supplied to the disk 3 stored in the main body 2. Thus the signals are satisfactorily recorded.
