Abstract: PURPOSE:To detect a dropout with sufficient sensitivity even at an outer periphery side by providing a dropout detection means in which its threshold level is changed by a position detection means of an optical head. CONSTITUTION:A position signal is fed from a control section 40 to other input of a comparator 53 of a dropout detection section 50 to provide a threshold level Sth detecting an envelope of a reproduced RF signal. Then the threshold level Sth is set to a level lower than an envelope signal SEF of the reproduced RF signal. Moreover, the threshold level Sth is set comparatively deep at the inner periphery side of an optical disk because the reproduced RF signal is effected by AM modulation, but the level is made shallow at a position when a position signal is at outside of the outer periphery of the optical disk. Thus, a level change in the reproduced RF signal is detected with high sensitivity.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To satisfactrorily reproduce recorded information having a desired time length by recording information on the inner peripheral side of a recording limit also to extend the recording time and gradually changing the recording characteristic to make the change in quality of a reproduced picture inconspicuous. CONSTITUTION:Recording information is subjected to prescribed frequency modulation by an FM modulator, and a laser beam is interrupted and controlled with this frequency modulated signal by an optical head 26 to record information on an optical disk 27 rotated at a certain angular speed by a spindle motor 31. The laser beam is moved to the inner peripheral side of the recording limit dependent upon the prescribed frequency modulation on the optical disk to record information, and the frequency characteristic of recording information is limited by low-pass filters 22 and 23 and is gradually approximated to the prescribed frequency modulation characteristic in accordance with approach to the position of the recording limit by a servo CPU 28. Information is recorded on the inner peripheral side of the recording limit on the optical disk also to extend the recording time, and the recording characteristic in this range is gradually changed to make the change in quality of the reproduced picture inconspicuous, thereby satisfactorily reproducing recorded information having a prescribed time length.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve an S/N and the reproducibility of hue by recording and reproducing a luminance signal Y and color difference signals (B-Y), (R-Y) and a sound signal on/from an optical disk by time-division-multiplexing them. CONSTITUTION:A color composite signal and the sound signal are converted into signals Sc, Sa, Sr, and further, are recorded on the optical disk. The signal Sc is the signal to be recorded during an effective vertical scanning period, and it contains a horizontal sync signal SYNC consisting of a sine-wave-shaped burst signal, sound data ADDT, the color difference signals Bc, Rc and the luminance signal Yc in its one horizontal period in said order. Accordingly, the luminance signal and the color difference signals (B-Y), (R-Y) are time- division-multiplexed, and simultaneously, at this time, the sound signal is recorded on the optical disk as being distributed in the horizontal blanking period and the vertical blanking period of an original color signal (Y+C).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve various characteristics by applying time axis compression to a luminance signal, a chrominance signal and an audio signal of an optical disk into a prescribed format signal and recording them. CONSTITUTION:A luminance signal for one horizontal period and two color difference signals (B-Y), (R-Y) by one horizontal period are subjected to time axis compression to form a time axis compression signal by one horizontal period and the audio signal is digitized to apply time axis compression and they are subject to time division multiplex processing and the result is recorded on the optical disk 1. Thus, even with the recording and reproducing characteristic to be nonlinear given to the disk 1 and the head 2, no cross modulation is caused between the luminance signal Y and the color difference signals (B-Y) and (R-Y) or the audio signal and the reproduced pattern with excellent S/N is obtained.
