The filter means 15 is arranged on a corner space part 11 firstly positioned from an opening part 9 for recording/reproducing where a head actuator 32 enters against the rotating direction of the disk 2. By the filter means 15, the dust, etc., contained in the outside air flowing in from the opening part 9 for recording/reproducing is collected to attain the clean up of a circulating air flow.

SOLUTION: A removeable hard disk device 1 is mounted on an elevating and lowering device 33 and arranged in an external casing 32 in a freely movable manner in the up and down direction. Corresponding to the device 1, a magazine 30, in which plural disk cartridges 22 are stored in a stacked-up manner, is arranged. The cartridge 22 stores hard disks 21. An arbitrary cartridge 22 is sent to the device 1 by a disk cartridge moving mechanism 36 which is provided on the device 33. A plastic disk, on which a head position determining servo pattern is molded in a three-dimensional manner, is used as the disk 21.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability and suppress the run-out of a rotary shaft. SOLUTION: Herringbone grooves 111 are cut in the lower part of the outer peripheral surface of a rotary shaft 106. Plural notches 11 are formed on the outer periphery of a rotary thrust plate 10 in which the rotary shaft 106 is fitted and fixed. Lubricating fluid is sealed between the rotary shaft 106 and the rotary thrust plate 10, and bearing surfaces 113 or the inside surface of a shaft hole. When the rotary shaft 106 and the rotary thrust plate 10 are rotated, pressure is generated by the herringbone grooves 111 to support radial load. Further, pressure is generated by the notches 11 in the neighborhood of the outer periphery of the rotary thrust plate 10 to receive thrust load. Furthermore, since the lubricating fluid is efficiently circulated by the notches 11, the frictional loss is reduced to enhance the durability, and thus to suppress the rotational run-out.

SOLUTION: A read/write head is retracted completely outside a disk cartridge 16 in cases other than reading/writing and is inserted and moved into the disk cartridge 16 only for reading/writing, thus retracting a rotary actuator 51 completely outside the disk cartridge 16 when inserting and ejecting the disk cartridge 16 and reducing cost due to the decrease in the number of parts and at the same time opening or closing a shutter, achieving an improved reliability, and further make thin and miniaturize an entire device.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a complicated mechanism to prevent erroneous loading by forming the end part side of a disc cartridge as a curving surface and then opening or closing the aperture by sliding the shutter along the curving surface. SOLUTION: If a disc cartridge 1 is loaded erroneously with a reversed front surface, the longer side surface aperture of the disk cartridge 1 is located at the right side, but the side surface 1c collides with a stopper member 48 and can no longer be loaded any more before the disc cartridge 1 is totally loaded. Moreover, since the disk cartridge 1 does not come in contact with a head 50 of the actuator 49 in standby, the head 50 is not broken by the erroneous loading either.

SOLUTION: When a cartridge 100 is inserted, a fork-shaped end part of a ramp arm 27a is crossing a hard disc 101 to sandwich the hard disc 101. A projection 23 falls from the ramp arm 27a by sliding over the sloping surface of the end part of the ramp arm 27a, a magnetic head 21 is placed in contact with a recording surface of the hard disc 101 with a spring force of a suspension 20. When the write/read operation of signal stops from this condition, the magnetic head 21 is lifted for separation from the recording surface of the hard disc 101.

SOLUTION: A pair of suspensions 58a and 58b are composed of flexible plate spring-like members, in which openings 60 are arranged at the center of the end to reduce rigidity. Thereby installed sliders 52a and 52b can undulate easily. The TPC type slider 52A improves constant flying height performance, which reduces velocity dependence, and makes it possible to obtain almost flat performance either inside or outside in the disk radius direction. Thereby, the slider can steadily be floated above a disk surface.

SOLUTION: The contact surfaces T1 , T2 of a pair of holding plates 26, 27 in contact with the disk member 24 are set by taking the physical properties of the materials of a pair of the holding plates 26, 27 and the disk member 24 into consideration in such a manner that the outside diameter of the contact surface T1 of the upper holding plate 26 having the low mechanical strength is made larger than the outside diameter of the contact surface T2 of the lower holding plate 27 having the high mechanical strength. As a result, the camber of the disk member 24 by the thermal stress is offset by the difference in the sizes of the contact surfaces T1 , T2 , by which the camber is eliminated and the effective suppression of the camber is made possible.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the setting of stroke of a slide shutter for opening/closing a head inserting port to be long by parting an elastic body pressing the slide shutter and a disk-like recording medium by a partition member so as not to be positioned on the same plane. SOLUTION: The elastic twist coil spring 58 for pressing the slide shutter 57 is housed in an elastic body housing part where is a spatial part surrounded with the partition member 64 and an upper shell 52, and the slide shutter 57 is always pressed in the direction to close the head inserting port 56 by this spring force. By increasing the size of the twist coil spring 58, the head inserting port 56 is set to the size required for the use of a turnable actuator. Further, the interference between the coil spring 58 and the disk member 70 is prevented in such a manner that the disk housing part 54 is partitioned by the partition member 64 and the height of the twist coil spring 58 is made different from that of the disk member 70.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the contact between a center core and a main body of cartridge, even though the vibration or impact is exerted when the center core of a disk is being fixed to a spindle motor. CONSTITUTION: When the center core 33 of the disk 32 is being fixed to a magnet 14 of the spindle motor 13, the gap D3 between the lower surface of the center core 33 and the inner surface of the main body 31 of cartridge is set so as to be larger than the gap D1 between the upper surface of the center core 33 and the inner surface of a top cover 12. So, when the vibration or impact is exerted and the cartridge main body 31 is thereby moved upward, the upper surface of the cartridge main body 31 is abuts on the top cover 12 and stops, before the cartridge main body 31 is brought into contact with the center core 33. Thus, such a state that the center core 33 and the disk 32 are brought into contact with the cartidge main body 31, can be avoided.
