    Abstract: PURPOSE:To simplify a complicate image-forming process comprising an ink-jet printing and a specific thermal transfer dyeing of a cloth and enable quick delivery of the printed cloth by carrying out the latter half of the above process in completely dry state using a sheet-formed dye absorbent. CONSTITUTION:A letter, image or identification mark is temporarily formed on a polyester fiber cloth such as woven, knit or nonwoven fabric by an ink-jet process or a special thermal transfer method using an ink composed mainly of a disperse dye, etc., having a sublimation temperature of 180-300 deg.C (preferably 200-250 deg.C) and high sublimation fastness. A sheet-formed dye-absorbent composed of a polyester or polyolefin film is placed on the above cloth and the laminate is heat-treated to effect the dyeing of the cloth-constituting fiber with the dye. The latter half process comprising the heat-treatment and the removal of excess dye in the conventional ink-jet dyeing and thermal transfer dyeing can be performed in dry state in one step.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber resistant to heat and chemicals, having high knot strength by oxidizing highly oriented polyphenylene sulfide fibers having specific structure using an organic peracid. CONSTITUTION:Polyphenylene sulfide fibers of >=20Angstrom crystal size and >=60% orientation degree pref. comprising ultrafine fibers is first produced by high- speed spinning at >=4000m/min of a polymer composed of structural unit of formula I. The fibers is then put to oxidation treatment using an organic peracid (pref. peracetic acid) to convert the structural unit to a new structural unit of formula II, thus obtaining the objective polyphenylene sulfone fibers comprising ultrafine fibers of >=20Angstrom crystal size and >=60% orientation degree. The fibers is highly resistant to heat and chemicals such as concentrated sulfuric or nitric acid and also rich in flexibility, and can be suitably used for filters, etc., in sectors being required for heat and chemical resistances.
