    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer roll generating a transfer electric field for precise control by which the excessively early transfer and the retransfer of toner particles from a photoreceptor to the image receiving surface of a base material are prevented. SOLUTION: The transfer roll 1 is provided with a metal shaft 11, an insulating substrate 10 on the metal shaft, a plurality of embedded electrodes 8 arranged on the substrate and a conformable semiconductive layer 9 surrounding the embedded electrodes. A pre-nip region 6 is arranged on the upstream from a nip region 3, and an air gap exists between the outer surface 2 of the photoreceptor and the image receiving surface such as paper in the pre-nip region 6. A post-nip region 7 is arranged on the downstream from the nip region 3, and air gaps exist between the photoreceptor and the image receiving surface and between the transfer roll and the image receiving surface.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve transferring efficiency by aiding transfer of a toner image rheologically by maintaining a constant temperature difference between a transfer fixing member and an intermediate transfer member. SOLUTION: In a printer, the toner image is transferred from the intermediate transfer member 12 to the transfer fixing member 50 by the rheological aid before a final transfer fixing of the toner image to base material 70. A specified temperature difference is maintained between the transfer fixing member 50 and the intermediate transfer member 12. The intermediate transfer member 12 is heated to a temperature that is higher than peripheral temperature. The toner image is perfectly transferred by having the transferring of the toner image aided rheologically due to the specified difference in the temperatures.

SOLUTION: This bias component is formed of a polymer foam layer 5 filled with carbon fluoride 6 so as to be provided with proper flexibility. Then, the conductivity is controlled so as to be within the range of desired resistivity. Besides, it is formed so that it does not react with environmental change. By changing the ratio of fluorine contained in the carbon fluoride 6, the resistivity of the layer 5 can be systematically changed.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film having excellent electric characteristics of a system which enables bias electrification, by incorporating a polyimide film filled with fluorocarbons and forming the film having electric conductivity. SOLUTION: The member 12 which enables bias electrification is in a form of a belt, sheet or film, and consists of a polyimide 5 filled with a fluorocarbon filler 6. It is preferable that the fluorocarbons are dispersed in the polyimide layer. The fluorocarbons are sometimes called as a fluorinated graphite or fluorinated carbon, and is a solid material obtd. by fluorinating carbons by using a atomic fluorine. The amt. of fluorine atoms per carbon atom depends on the conditions of fluorination. By changing the stoichiometric rate of fluorine atoms to carbon atoms, systematic and constant changes of electric resistivity characteristics of fluorocarbons can be obtd.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a fuser roll used in an electrophotographic marking system (fusing system) becomes contaminated with a film or debris containing toner or by-products of toner and paper and the contamination eventually adversely affects the performance and life of the fuser roll.
    SOLUTION: The fusing system 1 comprises a toned paper transport 14, the fuser roll 2, a cleaning web 3 and a pressure roll 4. The fuser roll is in operative contact with the pressure rolls and paper during the fusing step. The cleaning web 3 is continuously in contact with fuser roll 2 whereby the wax impregnated portion 5 of the cleaning web 3 will transfer the wax 5 in a continuous manner to the surface of fuser roll 2 to form a wax film or coating 6 on the fuser roll 2.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain high transfer efficiency of a toner image to an insertion part. SOLUTION: An intermediate transfer belt 28 has filler particles 82 uniformly doped everywhere inside or only on a top coating layer (in a multiple layer intermediate transfer belt). The average diameter of the particles 82 is smaller than that of toner particles which partly constitute the developer used in an image forming process. The toner particle 84 has a diameter of nearly 7 μm, and the diameter of the filler is 40 nm to 5 μm, the roughness provided by the filler has a wavelength in the range of 20 nm to 3 μm, and the distance from the peak to the valley is in the range of 20 nm to 5 μm. By giving such a relative dimension between the toner and the filler particle, a comparatively fixed area is maintained between the tone particles and the belt. Since the possibility of the toner sticking to the belt is reduced, and only a smaller transfer electrostatic field is required.
