    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil filter where a forged screw with a large pitch is formed on a screw fitting part to enable instantaneous unscrewing and disassembly of the outer tube case; this enables the outer tube case part to be used again without being discarded; as a result, the number of components to be discarded is reduced as much as possible; and only oil, rubber packing, and paper filter element part require replacement; and the oil filter itself contributes to reduction of recycle cost.
    SOLUTION: In this oil filter 10, a cylindrical lid part and a cylindrical body part are screwed to each other, and a filter element is mounted in them in the axial direction. The oil filter is structured such that the lid part 1 and the body part are made of iron; screw threads of the lid part and the body part are constructed from forged screws; a plurality of protrusions are provided on a line extended from a pitch line of the male screw thread of the lid part; the male screw thread has a plurality of discontinuous parts; each discontinuous part has a protrusion; and the female screw thread of the body part also has a plurality of discontinuous parts.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a filtering apparatus comprising a pot-type filter housing (10), a filter element (28) that is accommodated therein, a holding mechanism (38) which is disposed in the filter housing (10) in order to removably fix the filter element along the longitudinal axis thereof, and a sealing device (60) that seals between a lid (20) of the filter housing (10) and the filter element (28). The holding mechanism (38) is provided with cooperating holding elements which are embodied on the interior face of the filter housing (10) as well as on the filter element (28). The inventive filtering apparatus dispenses with the need for O-seals that are known in prior art and extend in a radial direction between the filter element and the filter head as a housing lid because the sealing device (60) encompasses at least one sealing edge (62) or sealing surface which is placed parallel to the longitudinal axis in a radial direction and seals under the effect of the pressure applied thereto by the holding mechanism (38). The invention further relates to a filter element that is to be used in such a filtering apparatus.
